This could go on and on, but the election is over, we have four years of it to muddle through. Democrats, for all their bellowing, vote their pocketbooks. All those good deeds and taking care of the "needy", which despite billions of dollars never seem to actually get taken care of, they mean for others(rich republicans) to do. They can have it, they can run it, without our money. From now on we will be the ones deciding what we do with it.

Democrats that go to work will be quick to tell you how "nobody ever gave me nuttin" I worked for all I have, I ain't never been on welfare, ak ak ak ak.  One problem they have is not realizing what welfare actually is and was intended to do.  A Republican making the same statement is quickly told by that group, you didn't do it on your own-you exploited somebody to get there, you didn't build that, you got "yours" on the back of poor people ak ak ak.

Actually I only hear Republicans say that when they are trying to speak for Democrats. I have been told that is what I think, when it is most definitely not true. I have never heard a Democrat make that statement or even anything close to that.

Not at all, Crumb. I have NEVER wished Bill any harm. I have warned him, as a Christian should, when he is doing harm to the cause of Christ. Yes the Obama administration finally got Bin Laden. I am pretty happy about that myself. I would have been happy if Bush had gotten it done. I have not heard one person, much less the President say that terrorism is over or not take what happened in Libya serious.

I don't doubt there were some churches that leaned Democrat politicking from the pulpit. You know how I feel about that and I don't care which candidate the Pastor is pushing it is wrong. What I do know is that the religious-right has taken over the Republican party and in my opinion one of the biggest reasons they lost the election.

What it tells me is the liberals states steal all the money from the conservative states and put their kids in college. Except Nevada, where the prostitutes take all the liberals' money for a quickie.

I ask because I'm wondering, if they DO take assistance, do you call THEM "gimmethats"? And if they DON'T take assistance, but their kids are walking around with holes in their shoes, no warm coat, and not enough food to eat, don't you think they SHOULD take assistance for their kid's sake?

 I wouldn't call them gimmethat's because they aren't. He had a job and said he'd been working since he was in his teens. We've talked to people that know them and not a one would run them down. They're just a good little family trying to make it. I found out he's been laid off almost three years instead of two, and has done any "odd jobs" that he could pick up, but now those aren't out there as much anymore. They didn't make a career out of running down to the gimmethat lines and signing up for all the programs. No ono, if they were gimmethats their kids would be well dressed and in want of nothing. The gimmethats are way to "good" to let their kids have holes in their shoes. They'd be living in government housing where the rest of their family live and have lived for generations instead of the little house they're trying to keep.

They would have the "latest" shoes, clothes, and have cell phones hanging off their belts. And twister, I didn't say anywhere that they didn't have coats, and the kids told us they did have food. IF you read what I said, I posted that I asked the little girl if they had food to eat. We took them to lunch and they didn't eat like ravenous wolves, but they did eat, they didn't "mess over" their food and leave most of it to be tossed away.

As far as assistance, I didn't stick my beak in and ask her that, but I'm very sure they get food "stamps/cards". But as I posted, we're going to watch out for them, and they won't be lacking the things they need. I've called a few businesses we deal with and we've already set up a fund for them for christmas and other things. We're planning on doing it for others we choose as we're able, and we have plans on being able to do just that. We have to do it carefully though, so the gimmethat's don't get wind of it and come running wanting their "share". So make all your snarky little remarks, but like I said, from now on we are going to spend our money on the people we want to have it, not the people YOU tell us we have to support. So if this family that Best knows is getting government assistance but still their kids have holes in their shoes and they don't have the "kind" of food that they'd like, it seems that the government assistance does NOT provide for big screen TV's. Maybe the people who are on assistance who have big screen TV's and other luxuries fewer and farther between than you think.

And those that DO have luxuries must be getting the money for them elsewhere. Maybe some of them are dealing drugs, but it could be that maybe some of them have been "adopted" by other caring families. Maybe their own families are buying them these luxuries. Or the neighbors. Imagine what other "conservatives" would say about this family if you HAD bought the kid the $40 coat - "New shoes, new coat, restaurant meal - they must be gimmethats!"
