No, that was the first time. WHEN He comes back the second time, everyone will know it's Him, and everyone will KNOW He is Lord.

not me, ma'am. if he lands in my front yard in a burning chariot from the sky and insists i get on my knees and kiss his toes, i will . . . well, i'll probably be scared to death and kiss his toes out of fear.

then i will dedicate myself to ridding the planet of such an evil monster while all the believers hop on his space ship for the happy ride home. us skeptical sci-fi people know that ship is actually headed to a large alien kitchen.

the reality is that anyone claiming to be jesus christ in this world, even if they are the most gentle crazy people you could meet, end up in the asylum where they belong. just like this guy.

I also believe we will all KNOW it's Him.

and how will you "know"? what will you expect as evidence?

i believe the truth is that you guys would act just like you are acting now. you would disbelieve until some credible form of evidence is presented. that is all we atheists are asking, too.

there a little atheist in all of us whether or not you want to admit it to yourself or not,
Wiki covers it well enough. But unob, being an atheist, you are an expert on the Bible. You already know all this.

1. The coming of Christ will be instantaneous and worldwide.[5] "For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be." —Matthew 24:27
2. The coming of Christ will be visible to all.[6] "Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory." —Matthew 24:30
3. The coming of Christ will be audible.[7] "And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other." —Matthew 24:31
4. The resurrection of the righteous will occur.[8] "For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first." —1 Thessalonians 4:16
5. In one single event, the saved who are alive at Christ's coming will be caught up together with the resurrected to meet the Lord in the air.[9] "Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord." —1 Thessalonians 4:17
6. Human life will cease to exist on earth for a period of time.[10] "But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up." —2 Peter 3:10

b50, as a believer, i read all the "Left Behind" books. of course i know what the bible says.

but that is beside the point. most of us now live in the 21st century where these things are just silly ideas and wishful thinking.

at risk of being bill-gray-ish, i am going to post a new thread detailing exactly how an atheist would react to meeting god. Wink
