Name Changes.....

A great idea. I am so tired of reading something interesting only to have it turn into a cat fight without even knowing who the felines are! That has ruined a lot of discussions in the past few weeks.

This is one of the very reasons I have gotten tired of these forums. Too many complaining and name changes and everything else.

I agree with OB , they should limit these name changes.

Oh yes , I'm just as guilty. I used to change names a lot here and al.com forum. I have not changed in a while.

and 80% of the newbies aren't newbies at all....

I've noticed that. There is one person on here who has about 5 different screen names and 1 is male. Strange. Guess some people have an agenda. I have gotten private messages from people trying to get personal information. I'm not comfortable with that.

Thats why it need to be done with IP addys..... but even then you can get around it.

Great idea, Bama. I hope they are able to impliment something like this.

I don't know how Eve forums work, but I would think somewhere in their tools they /should/ be able to see members IP addresses and be able to find out who is doing all the name changes. I would think, at least. :/

If they were able to impliment your system, plus go through and delete/ban all the extra names, that would definitely weed out all the junk accounts. If, for some reason, there were more than the alloted amount of people using the forum, they could appeal the decision.

I'd love to see something like this happen. I don't know how realistic hoping for it, would be though. I still hold out hope, anyway.

How would this work for those of us who use WiFi in various areas? Also, I use computers at work in two different offices. I probably have posts on five or six differenct IP addresses and I know co-workers, etc., post on the same work computers that I do.

One of them told me 9 or 10. If you ask them about it they'll lie.

I started as Puckerupfrog, but when i had a problem signing in a few weeks ago i went to PuF. As soon as the problem was fixed i changed back.
Since i still use dialup signing out then back in with a new name is a pain in the tookus and more trouble than it's worth.

If you have nothing to hide, why change nicks?
or why have half a dozen?...trying to throw people off, playing games?...how childish

thanks for noticing i haven't changed my name and i am not going to. there was a lady that started a screen name almost just like mine but put a number in front of it. There are a lot of trolls in here and half the time they don't stick around but this one thorn in my side is for sure using lots of different names. I think "he" is even using a "she" name in here too. if not they are related i believe. I hope something gets done. Why not just block the IP address of the person(s) causing all the drama? Can they do that? What I don't understand is why some topics go on and on being hijacked by these troll(s) then others get deleted because I said Jane Doe.
