Nancy Pelosi complains Saudi Arabia as Trump’s first abroad visit ‘wasn’t even alphabetical.’ Huh?

The more Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) speaks, the more it seems that decidedly odd stuff proceeds from the Democratic House minority leader’s mouth.

Earlier this month, the self-proclaimed “devout, practicing Catholic” offered in a speech that the Dalai Lama “prayed for me that I would rid myself of my negative attitude about dwelling on the negative too much.”

OK.

Then during a press briefing Thursday, Pelosi complained about Republican President Donald Trump’s choice for his first abroad trip: Saudi Arabia.

“I thought it was unusual for the president of the United States to go to Saudi Arabia first,” she remarked. “Saudi Arabia?”

Pelosi’s first reason for her dismay was, one might say, a head-scratcher.

“It wasn’t even alphabetical,” she said. “I mean, what, Saudi Arabia?”

Huh?

Pelosi went on to say that the previous five presidents all chose countries the United States shares borders with for their first abroad visits. George W. Bush headed to Mexico first while Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama traveled to Canada first.

“Our friends and neighbors,” she said, “what was the decision-making process to go to Saudi Arabia first? That’s a question that I have, and what policy flows from that.”

It’s unclear if Pelosi meant that Canada and Mexico come alphabetically before Saudi Arabia — not that presidential trips to other nations employ such a criteria.

Desperation met stupidity on the corner of bad luck and despair, and the democratic party was born.
