I am challenging EVERYONE in the Shoals area......everywhere you look, you see "Haiti Relief Fund", "Help Haiti" whatever...well, we have friends, family, and loved ones in Nashville that are in DIRE need of our help...........the challenge is.......lets HELP NASHVILLE!!!

I am open for any ideas........so let me know. I am not asking to spearhead this drive to help, but if I have to I will. We just need to do something for these people. So everyone in the Shoals, lets put our heads and hearts together and help our brothers and sisters in need.

what about "adopting" displaced families- make it personal.
The Red Cross is Nashville should have a list of those who are displaced homeless-
find those families, (one phone call to get a list) and pair them up with a local family.
Just a suggestion.
I will help in any way I can.
Bottled water and cleaning supplies and hygeine items are a big thing.

The water is slowly receding and stagnating in the hot sun. Our temps are in the high 80s so that means we could start dealing with major mosquitoes.

Thousands of families lost everything, so in the coming months they will be needing everything to start their lives over - clothes, furniture, cars.

Schools received extensive damage within Metro and in all of the surrounding counties. So some schools may need supplies, books, desks, buses once they are able to assess.

It's so hard to know what we really even need because the water is still knee deep to waist deep high in a lot of places.

Churches have been completely destroyed and will need to be rebuilt or combined and new ones started.

Farms were destroyed so I'm sure they need help with equipment and livestock.

Not only did the Cumberland overflow, but so did the Harpeth into a very low lying valley which is why so many subdivisions are now submerged.

So much farmland in the area is near or beside creeks and streams and rivers, and were devastated by this.

It's definitely a federal disaster in every way.

We didn't have the high numbers of death tolls such as Haiti or Katrina, and I attribute that ONLY to our brave rescuers who were just neighbors with fishing boats springing into action as fast as they could.

Without them, I think more people would have surely died.
If someone REALLLLLLY wants to help immediately.

They could get a truckload of water to Nashville and call (877) 253-4334 (Nashville Red Cross).

Ask them where/who to take truckloads of water to BEFORE you come.

I don't want anyone wasting efforts or wasting a trip.

Nashville will begin to have a water shortage by the end of the week because people are not conserving and instead hoarding.

Other towns are not experiencing the same MAJOR water issues, because their plants weren't shut off and Metro is such a densely populated area.

We have raw sewage and petroleum in our river water now, so we can't just go get that and boil it.
OK, I am going to drive supplies and goods to Nashville on Sunday morning........they need bottled water, basic hygene supplies, diapers, baby clothes, drywall tools, buckets, paper towels, hand sanitizer, masks, cleaning supplies........the list goes on. I will be driving my van, but would prefer to NEED a uhaul. If we can gather enough, I will rent the uhaul myself. So PLEASE, yall let me know what you can donate........256-767-1923
The response has been overwhelming. I am so excited. We will have the truck at Regency Square Mall parking lot between Verizon and Texas Roadhouse starting at 9 am on Saturday. If the truck fill up fast, we will get truck number 2. There is going to be free soft serve ice cream and snow cones for everyone who comes by to drop items off. We will be taking everything to Nashville early Sunday morning. We also have several radio station that will be announcing what is going on. I do believe that we will be going to Nashville with a lot of love and help from the Shoals.
There has been a couple of million raised by some of the country singers that also have lost everything. This thing is going to go into the billions. The people of Nashville were not if a "flood zone" so they didnt have flood insurance. And in case anyone does not know, even if you have the max on homeowners insurance, if you dont also have flood insurance, you are not covered in the event of a flood.

Taylor Swift donated $500,000.00. This lady is AWSOME. However, these people are going to need help for months, maybe years to come. These are Americans, right here on our own soil. Everyone is always so quick to jump on the bandwagon to help other countries......its time to help our own.

We had a WONDERFUL turn out today. I have a uhaul that is almost full, and also some cash. To everyone who came out and donated, whether it was time, money, items, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! To those that couldnt make it, but said prayers for those in need, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. I cannot come close to nameing all who helped, it was sooooo many. But I would like to thank Oakley Equipment for the great deal on the uhaul, Southern Pride Pest Control for the free snow cones, ice cream, slushies, and popcorn, Grand Rental Station for donating the use of generator to run the equipment, Lisa McCrory for all of her promoting on facebook and Shoals Sale Barn, Rachael Haygood for her tireless efforts to round up people and items.......the list goes on.

EVERYONE was wonderful, and I love and appreciate each and every one who came out today.

Thank You
