Can anyone recommend a good steak and/or catfish place in Nashville?

The Stockyard, one of the best steakhouses I have ever been to.

Jimmy Kelly's is a great place for steaks. Very old and a lot of history there. Steaks are massive and service is excellent. It's not a t-shirt and jeans type of place.
I would also agree with the Stockyard. Good steaks there.
For catfish, my wife's grandmother lives near the Catfish House in Smyrna, just south east of Nashville. I've been there several times and it's always good.
Catfish closer to downtown I would recommend Caney Fork Fish Camp which is across from Opryland Hotel. I've only been there once, but the catfish and service was excellent.

J. Alexanders is a very good Steakhouse but is upscale dining and I doubt you will find Catfish but the Steaks are great.
don't know if they have steak but my fave place in nashville is the white trash cafe near the fairgrounds.definitely casual atmosphere and the best country / soul food around.
Not steak or catfish but Nash or anyone how is Fat Mo burgers?I hear they are the best, I hated when Fudd closed so i tried Cheeseburger Charleys and was not impressed
Fat Mo's burgers are pretty good. Greasy and heavy, but good. There are several around Mid TN, the closest one to downtown that I know of is on 8th Ave South across from Kroger just before it becomes Franklin Road.
What kind of atmosphere do you want?
One like "we throw peanut hulls on the floor, and wear baseball caps indoors," or would you prefer something less boisterous, a bit more refined, and perhaps romantic?
What about cost?
Casual-no-reservations-required, or reservations-suggested/required?
Jeans or jackets?
The dining experience is more than food, and includes service with atmosphere.
One of the most outstanding examples included "The Wild Boar" (Fine Dining since 1993, they're not around anymore - Mobil 4 star & AAA Four Diamond menu example: Tasmanian abalone, Georgia quail, prosciutto in black truffle vinaigrette) with an EXCELLENT wine selection and on-site humidor.
More current, albeit "hip" examples include, "The Acorn," "Mambu," and "Tayst."
More established dining includes "Capitol Grille," and "Zola."
