AUBURN, Alabama --The NCAA did not find any major rules violations in Auburn's signing of quarterback Cam Newton and has concluded its investigation.

The NCAA enforcement staff also concluded its investigation into charges by four former players on HBO who accused the school of providing extra benefits. Again, it found no wrongdoing.

The NCAA issued a statement Wednesday saying it interviewed more than 50 people to see if Auburn provided Newton or his family improper benefits. The NCAA said it could not find any reason to keep the investigation open because its findings did not meet a "burden of proof" that Auburn did anything wrong in signing the quarterback who led the Tigers to the national title last season.

The NCAA said the investigation has to meet a higher standard "than rampant public speculation online and in the media.

The committee said it would review any additional information "if further investigation is warranted."

An additional 30 people were interviewed in the HBO investigation.

Well I too am glad it is basically over, but remember OJ was not convicted either..........in any case there will always be the allusion of impropriety simply because of the corcumstances around the issue.  Here was a kid whose dad asked for $180K for him to play at MSU, they refused, and then he announces he will be going to Auburn, despite never having an official visit there, and stated that his father told him he was going to Auburn.

Let's just say they bury the bodies good down around Montgomery, this ain't their first rodeo.....haha

Cam did in fact take an official visit to Auburn (12/18/2009). Cam took 4 official visits (while in JUCO--in order); arizona, mississippi state, oklahoma and finally Auburn. Auburn also recuited him out of high school but Al Borges (like most people) thought he was too raw a player to be qb and Auburn went with Kodi Burns.

you can stick with your "allusions," i'll go with the 13 month, in-depth investigation at Auburn that turned up ZERO regarding ANY violations involving Auburn.

as for the OJ reference, i've seen that a lot from certain "fans," and i'll throw one out there that makes just as much sense; bama was found to have committed some textbook violations, al capone was only found guilty of tax evasion.

Ahh yes, you gotta love how the Barn folks love to throw up the Textbook Scandal....at least the athletes at UA know what a textbook is, unlike Cam who could barely read.  If you will go back and read the "Textbook Scandal", it was alot of misunderstanding of the rules by a lot of universities and it was going on at more than one.  When it broke at UA, and was reported, several other schools self reported as well.  Alabama was under probation, and it was continued for it.  Despite that fact, Auburn still remains the most punished school in the SEC, almost losing acredidation several years ago because of failing in their programs.

I am not going to argue with you, Auburn covered their tracks pretty well, but there was plenty of information out there that would have gotten some schools in a heck of alot more trouble.  The SEC and CSlive covered for Aubrun last year.  NO school has ever had a player DQ'ed by a school, and reinstated within 24 hours to play, without special arrangements by the university and the NCAA.

Not only, if MSU is found guilty of anything, now because of this, NO school will EVER self report an infraction.  This will not be the end of it, because now the NCAA has a bigger issue on its hands with the offer by Cam's father for him to play for money.  If they do not institute a rule of some sort, the Newton Rule, the door is open for any rep of a player to do this, and all they have to do is claim "we did not know what was going on".

I am not losing any sleep over the Newtons and the Barn, but there are plenty of unanswered questions out there, and the NCAA can only sweep them under the rug for so long.

LMAO. So predictable. One simple question for you; what rule did Auburn, Cam or cecil break (in regards to Auburn)?
Good use of a straw man theory though, doesn't make any sense, but at least it was a shot.

I'll go ahead and savers you from getting so worked up about something you claim you don't care about bama has been on probation for the majority of the last decade over misunderstandings and minor violations while Auburn has had one program on probation in 20 years because they adele in cahoots with the NCAA (which also explains why the NCAA punished Auburn so much in the past)

You posted a bogus statement about Cam not taking an official to Auburn, and I refuted it. Then closed with a "joke" just like yours. If I would have known this tin-foil can of worms would have been opened, I would have just let you believe your own "truths" and bit my tongue and just shook my head.
