Some fool in a red pickup lost a big step ladder doing about 50 in the left lane of the O'Neal bridge a few minutes ago. I was directly behind him (a few car lengths-thank God) and was able to scoot into the right lane without hitting somebody. Looking in my rear view mirror, I saw the vehicle behind me stop, at the risk of killing himself, to grab it, thereby saving others lives. WHY don't people secure their loads????? To the person who picked it up, God bless you. To the idiot who lost it, you need your a** kicked. Mad

Totally unrelated but I know someone who had trouble yesterday on the Patton Island/Singing River aka New Bridge. They were talking about how while they were trying to change a tire in the emergency lane the big trucks and many other cars never got over to the middle lane running a risk of hitting them. People ...have a little common courtesy....if you can move over one lane ...please do. Now I understand why the police have the law that says they can ticket you for not getting over a lane while a police has someone pulled over.
And now I will come down off my soap box.
Well, Mike Goins writes at least 4 colums a yr telling ppl not to pull over into the left lane unless its police, etc. I used to, but don't anymore since supposedly that's what's illegal. I've seen plenty of ppl not pull all the way in to the breakdown lane.
I don't understand what you mean, Tru. Apparently there were some nails spilled on the bridge. Another guy had a flat too. Then while he was waiting for help a road sweeper person came through to clean the roadway. He was carrying a trailer that was loaded with roofing shingles and the tire was completely decimated. There is no way he could have crossed all the way to the other side. It all happened about a fourth of the way across. He had to jack up the trailer and go get a tire put on the rim and come back and put it on. In the meantime cars and 18 wheelers were whizzing by just a couple of feet from him and he was over as far right as he could go. ...not to mention it was raining.
