I'd say check there. Per my post on another thread, I would avoid Rex at all cost.

Wow, a socialist makes a purchase from a big mean corporation and not from a locally own and operated appliance store. What happened to all that lip service about the big bad corporations prior to the elections?
I use both Lowes and Hunts. I will have to say that my entire kitchen came from Hunts about 6 years ago. After about 3 years my dishwasher caught on fire. Yes flames came from the front panel and by the time it was out the whole bottom was melted. Hunts came out on a service call at my request. I was out of warrenty by 2 years and they contacted Frigidaire and got me a replacement and it was a major upgrade. Three years on a dishwasher is allot of changes to the better with the manufacture. I would say that Hunts went above and beyond there call of duty. They truly did not have to get involved, but they wanted have true customer services.
Lowe's has appliances on clearance very often. Scratched, dented, nonstock and repaired units are located in the back of the store near the restrooms.

Speaking of Lowes, I read somewhere that our local store (Florence) was just named "Store of the Year 2008". Only 27 stores were recognized out of nearly 1700. I thought that said a lot for them. Can you tell that I LOVE Lowes?
well thanks everyone for the replys took my old dryer had it looked at said it would be about 225.00 to repair it and he said it wasn't worth it go buy new one so guess i am off to lowes sunday it would be nice if they had a sale or a scratch one for about 300.00 money it tight but we have got to have clean dry clothes if it was summer we could go awhile with out one due to we do have a clothes line
Yep, go for a floor model or one that is scratched. The fewer the pushbuttons and more the large dials there are, the more easily replacable relays and timers and thermostats there are that actually run off mercurty switches and such. Less to break, less expensive to fix. Estate sales for elderly couples closing out and moving to a care facility or in with their families are great places also. Does anyone pay full retail any longer? Today, if you have cash, they have a surplus and are ready to move stock.
When I made my decision I decided to try a locally owned business so I went to Fredricksons in Sheffield and they delivered free to North Florence.

As for brands I did a lot of research before I chose the Fisher Pakyl and after that decision and owning Sear's GE, Whirlpools' and Amanas as well as a Maytag we finally found one that we believe performs best. Most of the reason we have had so many brands is we usually left them behind when we moved to a new location or the new owners purchased them from us. I don't plan to leave the Fisher Pakyl for I think it's the best performing one I have ever had.
