Thank God for great neighbors!!

MUSCLE SHOALS -- Quick action by a neighbor led to the arrest of two people in connection with a home burglary Monday morning.

Andrew J. Richardson, 21, 405 Nassau Ave., Muscle Shoals, and William Brian Glidden, 20, 1004 E. Second St., Tuscumbia, were arrested shortly after 8:30 a.m. and charged with third-degree burglary.

Muscle Shoals police investigator Lt. Seig Mueller said they are accused of breaking into a residence in the 1100 block of Richton Avenue.

Mueller said a neighbor was driving by the residence and saw two men acting suspiciously walking around the residence.

"He then saw them enter the backyard of the residence and he called the homeowner to make sure they were not doing some of kind of work for her,'' Mueller said. "Once it was determined that these two suspicious acting men were not supposed to be there, the police were called.''

Mueller said that before police arrived, the neighbor saw the two men walking from the residence carrying two sacks.

"He followed them as they went into a wooded area and then called police,'' Mueller said.

Mueller said that because of the action by the neighbor, officers Cedric Morris, Lee Nesbitt and Jeremy Behel found the two suspects hiding in an outbuilding on Trojan Drive.

The stolen items, including jewelry, electronics, computer game systems and games, a backpack and liquor, were recovered in the woods.

"This was a case of neighbors looking out for neighbors,'' Muscle Shoals Police Chief Robert Evans said.

The two men are being held in Muscle Shoals City Jail.
