The One Hundred Eleventh United States Congress was the meeting of the legislative branch of the United States federal government from January 3, 2009, until January 3, 2011. It began during the last two weeks of the George W. Bush administration, with the remainder spanning the first two years of Barack Obama's presidency. It was composed of the Senate and the House of Representatives. The apportionment of seats in the House was based on the 2000 U.S. Census. In the November 4, 2008 elections, the Democratic Party increased its majorities in both chambers, giving President Obama a Democratic majority in the legislature for the first two years of his presidency. A new delegate seat was created for the Northern Mariana Islands.[5] This Congress has been considered one of the most productive Congresses in history in terms of legislation passed since Lyndon Johnson's Great Society and the 89th Congress.[6][7][8][9]

The problem with the GDP numbers is exactly because of the two years Dems completely owned the Federal Govt.. How can a country grow with the chaos created by turning much of the full time jobs into part time via Obamadon'care and creating uncertainty in existing businesses because of Dodd-Frank, environmental, and labor regulations. The only things that created economic growth were the drilling and fracking of gas and oil and the Fed. creating money out of thin air which inflated stock prices.

obama was sworn in on jan. 20, 2009...

58 democrat senators....after the republicans contested al franken, in minnesota, he wasn't 'seated' for another 7 months... in april, specter switched parties giving the democrats 59.. still not the 'super majority' need to break the 'do nothing republican' filibusters.. used over 400 times, thus far, under obama...

in may, byrd, of west virgina, was hospitalized.. back down to 58..

in july, franken was sworn in.. however, with byrd out.. still at 59...

august, the passing of ted kennedy and the subsequent 'seating' of a republican in feb. 2010 negates any concept of a 'super majority'. thus ends the 'rt. wingnut' lie of 'two years'.. what else you got?

And how would that be possible with Harry Reid round-filing everything from the House? It's a great thing Obama came up with the sequester or the GDP numbers would be worse though.

The rate of decrease of families living in poverty slacked off after the Great Society's War on Poverty.

The House has passed seven appropriation bills funding the government for 2015.  Reid is sitting on them, refusing to let them go to committee for resolution. True, Obama threatened to veto two of the bills, However, resolution between the two branches is supposed to solve the difference. Can't do anything as long as Reid does his cadaver imitation -- it is an imitation?

Some of the greatest fiction ever printed

I agree, the person who wrote this crap must've been one of your folks. There is no way a conservative or libertarian would have called that congress productive.

and how many of those bills contain a 'rider' to defund or repeal the ACA? i don't suppose you would find that information important.

the rt. wingnuts will 'bend the truth' to help their 'do nothing republican congress' look better.

Zero.  If I am wrong name one.

To date, the House has passed seven FY 2015 appropriations bills, including the Transportation-HUD bill,H.R. 4745, as described in NCSHA’s June 11 blog post.  The House began consideration in early June of the Agriculture-Rural Development appropriations bill, H.R. 4800, which includes funding for rural housing programs, but did not finish voting on amendments or final passage.

The Senate has not approved any FY 2015 appropriations bills.  In mid-June, the Senate brought to the floor a package, or minibus, of three funding bills, including its Transportation-HUD, S. 2438, and Agriculture-Rural Development, S. 2389, bills.  Due to a disagreement between the majority and minority leadership on a process for considering amendments, the Senate discontinued consideration of the minibus before any amendments were offered on the floor.
