TRIPOLI, Libya (AP) — Libya's interim rulers have declared the country liberated after an 8-month civil war, launching the oil-rich nation on what is meant to be a two-year transition to democracy. But they laid out plans with an Islamist tone that could rattle their Western backers.

And what happened? All of a sudden she's not laughing. Hey hillary, what happened to "we came, we saw, he died"  and your "hahahahahaha"? hmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Britain's defense secretary, Philip Hammond, said the Libyan revolutionaries' image had been "a little bit stained" by Gadhafi's violent death. Both he and U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said a full investigation is necessary.

Libya will rule by Sharia law, the country's transitional leader proclaimed during a ceremony declaring "liberation."

Islamic Sharia law, a controversial code for living that governs observant Muslims' lives, will be the "basic source" of legislation from now on, said Mustafa Abdul-Jalil, chairman of the National Transitional Council, during a ceremony that marked the end of Libya's eight-month civil war.

Existing laws that contradict the teachings of Islam will be nullified, he said.

The announcement came three days after Moammar Khadafy's gruesome death - which ended his brutal four-decade reign.

"We are now united. We have become brothers in love," Abdul-Jalil said during the celebration Sunday in Benghazi, as a crowd waved red, black and green flags. "This revolution was looked after by God to achieve victory."

200 million dollars a day?

SAUDI ARABIA

The US provided $295 million in aid from 1950 to 1975, directed in large part to military and police training. In 2007, Congress cut aid to Saudi Arabia, citing human rights abuses (specifically woman’s rights and other domestic violations). In recent years, that aid has returned. Saudi Arabia, itself one of the largest foreign aid donors globally, received $208,000 in USAID in 2010, with funds going to trade and development assistance and anti-terrorism operations.

This is a good reason for our continued support of our only true ally of the region Israel.

The Middle East is falling like dominoes. Israel cannot stand alone against this growing threat. Libya will be another Iran style sharia law Moslem controlled Country. Egypt is also heading that way. We are now pulling out of Iraq which will leave a huge void for Iran to gladly fill with their anti-US hatred. Yes I think we should eventually pull out of Iraq, but what is wrong with leaving permanent military bases(air) on small areas that remain our sovereign territory like in Cuba, with limited air corridors except in the case of emergency or threat where it would be expanded. No lease, it would be ours. Fought for and bought with American Lives and funding. This Area (the Middle East) will never find peace, and Saudi Arabia is not a true friend. Syria’s time may be limited, which is a good thing. In my opinion Afghanistan is no longer vital to keep our troops in and we should totally withdraw. They are not our friends and in their recent statement made it clear they are not. in They said they would go against us if we would ever attack Pakistan, who also should receive no more funds from us. We need to focus on our true allies and cut funds in foreign aid drastically to those who are not Except in emergency disaster relief to those countries that cannot provide it for themselves.

So what's your point, Jennifer? Are you saying it's Obama's fault? You yourself said in Ditto's thread that it would have happened anyway, and that Obama had nothing to do with it:

I don't think the ones that really killed him wouldn't like your lie very much. Obama had about as much to do with it as I did. Dang, you and butter should work for the national enquirer. Then again even they would most likely be ashamed of you.

So again, what's your point?

Americans think everyone wants to be like us.

"They will welcome us as liberators" and all that rot.

If you lived in a developing country and looked abroad for ideas on establishing a government, would you think that our Republic of Gridlock is a successful model?

Americans think everyone wants to be like us.

Not at all juan. Quite the opposite. If they "wanted to be like us" they would assimilate. They want what the country has to offer money/benefit wise without adapting to our way of life.

An even better question is why does it make a damm to anybody else ? The one thing we as a nation have been terrible at is nation building. We should avoid it  at all cost, because , well, it cost - the US millions .

How they want to run their country is their business. Not yours, mine, or the US.

Frankly my dear, I don't give a damm.

In the present day why the H*LL are you not targeting the ones trying to make the World Muslim? To them we are to be conquered and placed under sharia law. If it takes attacking them at them in their own bases/ Nations to stop them, well so be it.

Skippy--Everywhere you go, every person you meet, every chance you get, tell them that you are a devout Repube.  That is the best thing that you could ever do for the future of our country.

We get about 15 percent of our oil from Saudi Arabia.  We sell them billions in arms.  Just signed a $60 billion deal.  That will keep me employed.

The Saudis are allies, not necessarily friends.  They are caught between the Turks who speak of a new Ottoman empire and the Iranians who speak of a new Persian empire -- arabs were suffering pawns under both those caliphates.  The Saudis would rather deal with the US and even the Israelis than those other two.
