Do the Republicans still want to use Rush Limbaugh as a mouthpiece? He and Chip Saltsman have carried the party into a territory that even the Republican Chairman sees dangerous. RNC chair wannabee Chip Saltsman's Christmas gift to RNC members was a CD that includes the Rush Limbaugh "satirical" tune, "Barack, the Magic Negro." I quit listening to Rush years ago (when he became what seems to be arrogant and deranged). If any of my Republican friends thinks that guy looks out for anybody but himself then maybe they will finally see the light.

I am glad to say RNC Chairman Mike Duncan is the first party member to condemn the action. He said, "I am shocked and appalled that anyone would think this is appropriate, as it clearly does not move us in the right direction."

Saltsman sent RNC members a parody CD called "We Hate the USA" for Christmas. The CD includes the song. This moron is a former chair of the Tennessee Republican Party and a top advisor to former Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist. He also managed former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee's presidential campaign. Saltsman said, "I think most people recognize political satire when they see it. I think RNC members understand that." I seriously doubt that.

Goodbye Chip. It wasn't nice knowing you.

Thank you Mike Duncan. You can recognize an idiot when you see one.

It's so funny how you libs get so hysterical about Rush Limbaugh. Just think if someone like Rush was on practically every channel, on almost every show, 24-7, 365 days a year. Imagine that for a moment. Go ahead, let it sink in. Rush hosting all the daytime kook shows, Rush hosting the evening news. Rush starring in all the prime time tv shows. Rush hosting the late news. Rush hosting the late variety shows with Rush as all of their guests. Visualize it. I know it's hard to comprehend but try it anyway. Rush everywhere, all the time.

OK. Now you know how it feels to be a Conservative. Enjoy your radical, left-wing liberal media and be happy it isn't the other way around.

In my humble opinion both Rush and the LA Times columnist were wrong. And, I'll throw in Chip Saltsman as being wrong. While you are at it throw in those in Congress using race as an appointment reason as being wrong. If we want to move forward we have to get those kind of people to move aside. It isn't isolated to one party or one person. It is the wrong thought process. I give Mike Duncan a lot of credit for seeing the direction we need to go. He deserves kudos for his insight.

kperks, I would have easily figured you listen to Rush Limbaugh. There are a few Rush Rooms left in the country if you wish to look one up. If you enjoy him then feel free to support him. There are plenty of Republican talk show hosts who I think are more interested in carrying the Republican agenda forward than building their own ego. Mr. Limbaugh uses the word "I" just a little too much for my tastes.

Let me give an example, while I may not agree with Sean Hannity he, at least, doesn't spend the whole time proving how he knows everything. He actually discusses the issues. Glenn Beck is another example.

Like I said, Rush is an entertainer. We all need to laugh a little. That's why liberals enjoy jon stewart, leno, etc.

Great point kperk. Rush is on 3 hours a day and all the libs can do is whine their little pointed heads off while we continually hear their garbage 24/7.

I used to enjoy the show but the stench has gotten to be too much so I quit watching about a year ago. After the huge chicago political scandal broke, I watched to see how he would handle it. He made one quick feeble joke and didn't even identify Blagojevich as a defacrat and then he jumped quickly to a joke about a Republican congressman whom the party threw out over a year ago. I don't watch any of the late night shows anymore because they made a deliberate decision to go completely off the radar to the left.

To show you how the liberal media has dumbed down a huge portion of America, I had several different discussions with people down in Jasper, the heart of the coal mining industry in Alabama. When I asked them what they thought about oDAMa's pledge to bankrupt utility companies if they tried to use coal-fired plants, they just looked at me and said: "You're just making that up." Or "It's probably those Republicans." Or "Fox News just made that up." Never mind he is on tape stating it flatly with no remorse. That's how the liberal news lies to America. They just don't report the truth if it's harmful to a defacrat. It's like when they reported that Kenneth Starr had found the clantons innocent in the Whitewater scandal when he actually stated that he couldn't prosecute them because a lot of the evidence had been destroyed and too many people had conveniently died. So most Americans to this day, think that they were innocent because nbc told them so.
Not that I've ever found Rush that entertaining or relevant...

But would this topic have been posted if the song had been distributed by Stephen Colbert instead?

Even liberal comedians these days admit "we're going to have to learn to make fun of a black man without people getting upset" if they're going to have a job for the next four to eight years.

If it was intended as satire, then so be it. Distasteful satire, if it crosses a line, should be condemned by anyone with a desire to see politics stop being so poisonous.

But a lot of the condemnation only gets tossed around in one direction.

I agree.Glenn Beck is about the only one I can still listen to because he's not a rebublican asskisser. He will call both sides out when they are wrong.
