I am talking about WJHF-LP on 106.9 FM belonging to the Jackson Heights Church Of Christ, it is playing Gospel Music and Focus On the Family. However the signal is not where it should be right now, I am having more trouble getting it than WZYP out of Athens. If someone wants to test it in their location, you can post if you picked it up and how strong you picked it up here.

I called the church and they confirmed WJHF-LP is now on the air. They couldn't tell me why I am having problems picking it up. They did tell me they are in testing mode right now though.
Ok, making a educated guess. -LP states that it's a low power station. LP stations can radiate at a max of 100 watts off of a tower no more than 100 feet over the average terrain. This is about a 3.5 mile radius. Assuming the tower is at the church that's enough to cover Florence barely. Newbern's would probably be just out of range.
Yes, you are correct a low power FM station is 100 watts or less, this one licensed to operate at 100 watts. However 100 watts may can cover a fairly good sized area. Keep in mind the Shoals has a 7 watt translator at 94.3 FM. And that is enough power to cover all 4 cities barely. The Shoals also has an 80 watt translator at 92.9 FM and it has enough power to make it to the Iuka MS weigh station going west. So likely WJHF-LP's coverage area will be closer to 92.9's rather than 94.3's. When I called the church the preacher said they are operating at a reduced power right now, so the coverage won't be that good, but when they get the signal up to 100 watts the signal will likely be better as I stated earlier.
The Shoals has another new radio station now, 92.3 WSHF-LP. They seem to be playing mostly Album Rock right now, but may end up playing local music as well ( their website seems to indicate that). http://wshfradio.com/. The WSHF call letters stand for Where the Shoals Has Fun.
WJHF-LP 106.9, is noticeably stronger now. 1 of my radios that had trouble picking it up isn't having trouble anymore.
