I noticed a new Bar B Que joint across from Brooks High in the old bait shop. Then I noticed a new sub shop on Flo Blvd just west of shoal creek bridge in the old pet store building. Last but not least I saw that a Fiesta Mexicana is opening in Elgin (2 mex joints in Elgin?) Does anyone know what is going on at Uncle Charlies? Someone has used a lot of lumber but I cant tell what its going to be???????

No it is not Bliss Block. The guy used to have the moon walk rental business and the pet store across from the old Clements gas station on hwy 72 at Shoals Creek bridge. His name is Roso or something like that. He also has a fish aquarium maintenance business. He purchased Uncle Charlie from the Anderson's. He told me it was a 5 year plan to get everything up and running. He is renting the moonwalks from Uncle Charlie's now.

I wish that El Charitos had the building on Hwy 72 where Fiesta Mexicana is going. I understand that the rent there is high though. I do worry that FM's location will hurt El Charito because travelers will see FM's sign and go there without asking around. I was really surprised when FM opened there since El Charito's was so close.
El Charito's cannot be seen from Hwy 72 so people please go north on 101 (toward Lexington/Tennessee). This is nothing against FM because I haven't eaten there, but we have one good Mexican restaurant at Elgin, so why couldn't something else have gone into the building on 72?
The name of the place out at Shoals Creek is "Mr. Dog's Sub Shop", Home of the Fabulous Frank. Ken Novelli, Certified Executive Chef is the owner. Kathy is the waitresses' name.

We ate lunch there last week and had a Ruben Sandwich. It was a great sandwich and the price was right. I think his hours are 10:00am till 6Pm and he takes call in orders at 757-7307.
Give him a try, you'll like it!!

This must be Vinnie Grosso. He owned Vinnie's by Foodworld at one time, then the fish store at Shoal Creek. He also was connected with Florence Animal control for a time. The website is intriguing, but needs tweaking. I wasn't sure what group Mr. Grosso was trying to reach.

Vinnie is still with Florence animal control.

The one that bought Uncle Charlie is Shane Dabbs he is the brains and Money behind all of it. the rest are just friends along for the ride.
I went back and found this......interesting to note how many of the mentioned here are empty or have new owner/names. There is no resturant yet where the haunted house is. There is a pizza place where the sandwich shop mentioned, at west end of Shoals Creek bridge. On river road now there is a Sidelines. The Mexican in Elgin is now owned by a former employee of Mama Holden's. There is nothing in the building where the pizza place on River Road was. O'Brians is now Stanfields. There is a Stanfields in Rogersville now. Like a soap opera, As the Resturants Turn.
