In the Region section of the Times Daily (Sunday edition) besides news of a potential new WalMart Supercenter on Cloverdale and dedicated WalMart food store along Florence Blvd there was a statement that a new Steakhouse will be built along Florence Blvd as well but no name was dropped or mentioned.   The name of the steakhouse was not revealed but rather news that some unnamed new steakhouse would be coming to the Florence Blvd area.

Granted it could be one of many different stores but I hope that it will be a Longhorn Steakhouse.   We were told during a visit to the Huntsville Longhorn a month or so ago that Longhorn (same owners as Olive Garden & Red Lobster) was looking at expanding into either the Florence or Scottsboro areas.  In my mind Longhorn is the top shelf quality of Chain Steakhouses along with Outback.  At least there appears to be quite a bit of new growth coming to the area, quite possibly due to the Navstar news but whatever the reasons I'm glad to hear more growth is coming to the area.

I hate to hear about the bad experiences at Outback.  Thankfully we have not had any negative experience at Outback that hasn't been totally addressed by management to our complete satisfaction.  I still believe they have the best Potato Soup in the area.  As for the Chain Steak restaurants in the area we have had good and bad experiences at all but, again, thankfully Management has always addressed them to our satisfaction.  As for quality. our experience and take only, Outback has been the best with Texas Roadhouse coming in a close second with the "Bone In" 20 oz Ribeye.  Logans has provided us with some good (not great) meals but doesn't seem to be able to compete with the others.

it's not going to be longhorn. it's going to be something nice from i've heard, something to give dales and georges a run for their money.

i wish longhorn would open here and i'm sure one day they will since we do have two darden restaurants that do well.

as far as what we have now, i'll take texas roadhouse over anything we have. logans would be my last choice.

Longhorn's a 25 year old Atlanta chain of restaurants.  We just to eat there every week (on business) ordering their monster 28 oz. sirloin.   They're not peddling prime steak, but they're not priced particularly high.  They do a great job, however.

What I don't understand is how Logans in Florence can be so busy all the time.  It's certainly not top quality food--probably lower quality than Texas Roadhouse.  They just have a strong, regular clientele.

i had dinner at o'charlies tonight and asked their manager about them closing. she told me she has heard the same rumor and it's not true. she said o'charlies owns that land and the building and it's a huge tax write off and they aren't closing. whether this is true or not is anybody's guess.

i did hear that we would get a longhorn in the next two years.
