5.9 million deal made in chokehold death case. The police won't admit any wrong doing, but offered to settle with Eric Garners family for 5.9 million

So what? Will the family use any of that money to pay all the fines he got while going about his illegal activities?

___
If they did, they would still have 99%+ of the money.
The cops should be the ones getting the money for a job well done dealing with scum like him and others.

The cops are supposed to kill anyone they suspect of illegal activity??? And then get a multimillion dollar bonus?? After they kill em, do they get to take their assets because they might have been bought with tainted money.

You seem to be able to search now, why don't YOU list them? Not only his fines but all the taxes he didn't pay on all his ill gotten gains over the years, and any money taxpayers spent supporting him and his kids.
As much as you hate the police the fact is Eric G killed himself when he resisted arrest. Sadly he, Mike Brown etc would be alive if they just complied. The police in Eric's case were trying to subdue him non-lethally and a accident happened and it was preventable. No the police did not need to turn a blind eye to his crime, Eric would still be alive if he complied!
Has anyone looked at the deteriorating situation in NYC since Comrade de Blasio and his politburo set new rules. Crime is coming back hard. Good job Dems.

Can you? It means, and so what if they have it left? They still need to pay.
JT, he put himself in a situation where he knew he might get hurt by resisting arrest. If you obey the law then you can keep yourself out of a situation like that. If they had been able to arrest him, some crazy judge would probably set him free and tell him to not do that again. I have NO sympathy for anyone who puts themselves in a situation like he did. You need to be held accountable for your deeds. like I said SCUM!
I kinda disagree about him thinking he'd get hurt. I haven't read a lot about him, but it seems he sure got away with a lot of crap. He'd be arrested, turned out, and go right back to his illegal dealings. That day, from the video, he was also basically telling the cops to take a hike and leave him the h*** alone, stop bothering him, let him keep doing his illegal dealings. I think he was used to brushing off the cops and getting away with his crap and thought it would be the same that day. IF you watch the videos one thing is clear, not to many of them look or act like they're afraid of the cops like they'd have you believe.
Best, I think you are right. It is about time that someone makes a believer out of the ones who think they are above the law. Good point!
If you're a cop and you suspect someone is selling untaxed cigarettes, kill em. That's what I see in these posts.
He killed himself?? I suppose he did when he put his neck in the cops grip and then got his neck under the cops knee.
The cops aren't always right. There was the case in the Knoxville area about 5 years ago where the suspect shot two cops to doll rags and the court found them not guilty because of harassment by the cops. Yes the shooter had multiple run-ins with the law, but not that day.
Maybe the 5.9mil will buy the nyc police some common sense.
What are the cops suppose to do, turn their their heads and look the other way. I bet if it was some of your family, or you, these hoodlums had attacked or stolen from them or was selling drugs to your kid you would change your mind. Again, obey the law and you won't have any problem. Do you want a society where no law exist. I have NO sympathy for law breakers, again NONE. If he had not resisted arrest, he would still be o.k. What part of this do you not understand, my goodness!

That's your problem, you put things in posts that aren't true and say things are there that aren't, and claim someone meant something they didn't mean. You should be ashamed, but from all your past posts we know you have no shame and will side with a criminal no matter what. He had a long rap sheet, why hadn't they killed him before? What you SHOULD see is this, s*** happens, and if your a** is going to be out there breaking the law, be prepared for that **** to happen to you. Especially if you're a big old tub of lard in bad health to begin with. This day he didn't get to tell the cops how it was going to be. I guess if I rob you the cops don't need to say squat to me, and if they do I can tell them just to get on down the road.
Jobe, if the 5.9 mil. does buy the police some common sense , see if they will sell you some. It is apparent you have none.

Apparently if the crook doesn't want to be arrested the cops are just supposed to apologize for ruining their day and go on. Don't take a chance that the criminal will fight you, don't take a chance on hurting them or their feelings, don't do your job, just walk on. Then when they call you to their neighborhoods because someone has done something to them, tell them to **** off.
What's so bad, you can bet that the most that ever happened to these cop haters are that they got a ticket at one time or the other, or had some other minor run in with law enforcement and didn't come out on top. It put their noses out of joint. Amazing that they hold such grudges for such slights that they don't want to see criminals arrested for anything. I don't want to do something criminal and not pay taxes on my earnings while someone else pays to support my kids, why should this tub of lard have been allowed to do it?

Your capacity for assuming and fantasizing is well demonstrated in your wildly speculative analysis of the motivation of those who have a different take from yours. Typical Best tactic--cook up some derogatory presumptions about those you disagree with and then put that forth as supposed evidence that they lack credibility. Really sorry polemics there, Best, but not unexpected, given the source.
Oh hush beternnun, you're the kind that would die if you got a ticket and would never shut up or stop demanding punishment for the 'upstart' officer that DARED pull you over!!!!

In the almost six decades of my driving career, I have received about half a dozen tickets, but I am still drawing breath, Best, and I have never made demands for punishment of the officers who pulled me over. Thus, as usual, your predictable, generalized, all-subsuming, absolutist condemnation does not stand up to reality. Grow up!
I don't believe you beternnun, so there.

That is your desperate last resort, Best. You are welcome to it; its a free country and you are free to make a laughingstock of yourself in any way you choose.
LOL, oh yes professor, saying I don't believe you is, hmmmmmmm desperation! LOL!

You sure do labor under the puerile notion that "LOL" gains you any credibility, Best. Any drooling, slack-jawed fool can ante up those three letters and they have absolutely zero argumentative value!

Anyone that would spend a half second on "LOL" has nothing intelligent
to say, and never did, and never will, and is a psychotic crybaby.....

Yes he did funny how you see it another way.
Lets see was Eric Garner breaking the law? Yes
Did he resist arrest? Yes
Did his resisting arrest result in his death? Yes
Did the police have a responsibility to enforce the law and within their rights to arrest him? Yes
Should they be required to simply allow a person to say no you can't arrest me? No
Did the police intend to kill him or use extreme violence to do so? No
Would he be alive if he simply complied or did the hands up don't shoot motto? Yes
So yes he killed himself by resiting arrest, did he mean for that to happen no.
I do not excuse police brutality but that was not he issue in this case.

Had he broke any law when the police first approached him?

Police do walk/drive around and look for suspicious behavior you know it is part of their job. Regardless your question does not matter in any way, had he complied he would be alive.

As I've stated before, the entire episode is the results of progressive government and Garner's irresponsibility. NY state and city increased the cost of cigarettes that the poor, the most addicted had a hard time affording their habit;
NY state only collects about half the revenue predicted because of the Russian and Islamist mobs selling black market, plus Indian reservation sells and people going to NH and Vermont to purchase cheap cigs and booze. NY spends half their revenue on enforcement.
Garner sold single cigs and was so aggressive he irritated local merchants. Their complaints brought the police. If Garner had obeyed police instructions, he would have spent a day or so in custody and been released on bail. Losing about 50 pounds would have helped
I might also note that LEO's are products and/or victims of their training and supervision by their "superiors". They do what their brass, DA, city/county attorneys, mayor, etc. tell them to do using the training and legal counsel that was provided to them.
