I was reading this morning about the drug deal gone bad last week at the motel in Florence.

Many people replied to the story but one reply cought my attention, it was by a new member that goes by the name: "badazzyellowgurlal"
Her reply was "All of yall are dumb....." He/she was saying the some people choose to make money this way and some do it other ways.

My next thought was to look at the number of post by this person...2, yup, 2 whole post and they have decided we are all dumb.

My idea was to start putting out an alert eveytime some newbie comes in with guns blazing and starts talking trash in their first few post.

Now I know not all newbies are this way and i appreciate a good conversation just as much as the next person but it seams like we have had a lot of these lately.

Your thoughts?

Your attitude is exactly the reason you don't get many "newbie" posts. You're all so cliquish. It's okay for you to ridicule the new people, but you can't take it when its thrown back at you. I was attacked and accused of being in cognito when I defended another person on one of the rare posts that I see fit to reply to. It's just not fun to participate when you have to duck afterwards!
If your reply is in order....and is only your opinion.....and doesn't go into telling someone they dont know what they are talking about...or just some garbage....you shouldn't have to duck after you post....People dont jump down someone throat for no reason...A tire dont blow out for no reason....if you post....and you receieve negativity...then you might want to look back and see why you got it....It's that simple...
No, it's really NOT that simple. Look back at some of the regular posts. Some of us don't have hard enough shells to withstand the abuse and therefore will never be oldtimers or hall of famers. I have never attacked anyone and have only expressed opinions, but still was ridiculed. You all obviously know each other personally and stick together. I won't get into a ******* match with you, so this will be all I have to say.
Actually upthestreet, most of us DON'T know each other personally, but we have had thick enough skin to stick it out around here and have gotten to know each other on this forum. Some have met in real life.

I agree with Roofer, if you are getting "jumped on" or "ridiculed" by several others -- new or old -- you should go back and check your post to see why. If you are stating your opinion, that is great, but if you are calling other people dumb, ignorant, or any other type of slam -- then there's your sign.

We have not jumped on all of the newbies except when it has been called for--we don't look at this like a gang, but when newbies come on here and post one or two times like ctjl is saying and all they say is "ya'll are stupid" or "get over it" or some other nonsense type post that adds nothing to the conversation, then yes they do get "corrected" as to why we really don't care to hear their "opinions".

Apparently you have added something to the conversations or you would have already ran away like you said. So apparently we aren't all bad. There are newbies every day. We don't keep them away, we just keep the silly ones that are just pushing buttons or are multi personality posters at bay.

Actually, if you go back and re-read some of my posts with Roofer, you will see that we don't always see eye to eye and that we had a very heated discussion, but because we are both intelligent adults, we worked through those differences and can openly discuss anything these days whether we agree or not....

No....I do not know any of these folks personally...but one...and she is no one to be afraid of...She is a kind lady....as for your Shell...if you can't take a little hammering on it...then I suggest you move to a site that where there is nothing but love stories....because....if you post your opinion on here..and it is public....you can bet....your going to find someone that will disagree with you....now...as of how they do it..usually depends on how you started the discussion to begin with....If you Start soft and mellow and post only an opinion in an adult manner...then thats how you shall get a reply...but if you start out bashing someone...and then comes along someone that knows the facts...then expect your shell to get cracked....it's that simple....We dont stick together unless some idiot comes on here with a Butt head attitude looking for trouble...and if they do...well...Usually they get it....Bottom line here.....Treat people on here...as you would like to be treated....How hard is that to figure out?....
If your not used to hypocrites this site is not for you. They say one thing and do another. As you can see most of them have been on here for a long time and they do stick together. You have to take it as a grain of salt. It is easy to control peoples feeling on this site as I have done several times. Some of these people have no social life and are on here 12 hours out of a day. Like someone said if you cant get your shell broke dont post here. Just post your opinion and sit back. Watch and see what reaction my posts gets. If you like to control peoples emotions this site is for you, its easy because people take things so serious. Dont make little jokes like telling someone to sit on a corncob, LMAO, they cant take it but they sure can dish it out.
This is my opinion, Do not reply to someone's post if you can't take what they have to say without whining. Don't portray, just to start trouble. Please understand everyone has an opionion, you may or may not agree with it and that's okay. Always have an open mind and be willing to learn from someone. Some have called me defensive and I am-when I have the facts. If I am wrong, then I have learned something new maybe. People are quick to judge no matter what you do, It's what you know about yourself that really matters.

My attitude? Trust me my friend you haven't seen my attitude and you probably will not.

I try to keep my post to the point and honest and attitude free. Please re-read my post and tell me where you found attitude.

Also did you not read the final statement where I said not all newbies are bad?

Now if you think I have expressed attitude in this post as well please let me know. I will be more than happy to send you a PM and we can start a whizzing match if you want! I have no problem turning my back to the wind and dropping trout. Big Grin
Whew!
My first post ever on the forums is going to be about Newbie's. Go figure!
I, personally, know very few people on here, but those I do know are hall of famer's.
I have heard that there are "clicks", that do not agree, to disagree.
My opinion is that you are here to speak how you, as an individual, feel about a public subject, and the thickness of your skin should have no bearing to your opinion. Maybe I'm wrong.
But it is only human nature to defend ones self if they feel they are being backed into a corner & jumped on, especially if it's by a group. That just seems so high school to me. I'm a mature, happy & successful adult, and I won't let anyone run over me, and I hope that everyone on here is the same. There will be several that do not have the same opinion as I do about things, Im just an old hippie gal from Bama, but I will not be insulted & pushed around by anyone, and I will not insult anyone. I say drop the "newbie" & "troll" labels I've been reading on here thus far & welcome everyone. It may not take a village to raise a child, but it does take a village to have change, which I think we can all agree, change is something we all need.
2 things:

It's funny that people change their username thinking it is not relevant -- that is why we "harp" on the multiple personalities because you appear like you are either trying to put a spin on things for your advantage or are trying to hide from your past -- you know that lumpy bed that you have already made with some people on this forum....don't blame us if you did it -- you did it to yourself -- we just called you out on it....

And secondly, Pot .... Kettle ... here's your sign....I find it a little funny that the newbies are bashing us Oldies for our snap judgements when they are doing the exact same thing...making snap judgements about us without trying to get to know us or truly read anything we have posted prior to this discussion.

Who knows? Maybe you might wind up liking us...and you actually probably already really do know some of us in real life -- you just haven't cared to notice ... I think you'd be surprised to find that you are bashing someone that you proably talk to on a regular basis in real life...

OH sorry and a 3rd thing -- how do you know some people are on here 12 or more hours a day if you aren't on here 12 or more hours a day to notice that?????

OK, I'm done -- let's all take a deep breath and try to get along...

Tell the Truth, agree2disagree! You hit the nail on the head! & Zann75 makes a poignant point! Believe Me, the same ole' CLICK just LOVES to try to make me just mad enough to cuss them out, so they can report me. Don't tell any of them to Bite You either! You'd thought that I had made death threats or something.
Just sit back & watch the vultures swarm my post here. It's terribly funny.

Nobody asked you - JOBRO. YOU are the person we are talking about, the one with several "personalities. You aren't just "OU812N07", you have had half a dozen (at least) other screen names as well. I wonder how many names you go by in the Real World?

Your so right. I know that I have jumped back, and vice versa. My lesson learned, if there is a subject that is close to your heart or that you are passionate about, do not start a forum on the times daily about it. Because some people just wanna see if they can push your buttons.

Well, TSC, if I wanted you to know, I guess I'd tell you. Your such a KISS UP to me sometimes. It really makes me :-) to see you be so hasty to me now. YOU are the type some are speaking about sitting on the computer, getting UP TO THE MINUTE NOTIFICATIONS as SOON as I make a post, just so you can come to that exact forum, and post a smart reply. Get Over Me Girl.
MollysMom -- I'm not referring to people like you that sign up and don't realize that your "username" is not what you want and so you change it. I did the same thing -- I used to have my email address as my username until I realized that and changed it to DixieCHik a long time ago. I'm referring to the ones that post under the name "Porkchop" and then change it to the flavor of the day trying to keep things stirred up and making threats and other comments to anyone and everyone on the forum new and old alike. You have only posted 2 posts at this time so I seriously doubt you have made any enemies -- at least not me at this point.

Agree however is not as "nice" as he'd like you to think -- and he can choose to live in his victim stance for as long as he wants, but he dished out just as much as we gave him on this forum and another. If you go to the ShoalsForum and see what all he had to say when there were no censors or filters to worry about -- he has quite the little potty mouth....

MollysMom -- I think you should do a search of Agree2Disagree's posts on this forum alone -- I think you would learn a lot more about this person and what motivates them and I have a distinct feeling you would not agree with them very much at all.

Zann -- I haven't posted much with you on this forum. I think you were the one that had some puppies to give away. Some people criticized you for not "fixing" them before you gave them away or told you to take them to the pound instead. I avoided that thread because I disagreed and didn't want to make it worse. I commend you for doing your part to find the puppies a good home. Sometimes the owner has a gut instinct about osmeone where as the pound is just ready to get rid of a dog to make space for a new one. There are more animals put down because they can't find homes for them and I know it is a necessary evil, but I hate to think of it. I, also, don't think it is your responsibility to "fix" an animal unless it is yours that you are keeping and at the very least - control the environment you let your unfixed dogs get into to keep the population under control.

I do hope you found homes for the puppies and only considered the pound as a last resort option...

DixieChik- I agree with you about the puppies.
It's the dog owners responsibility to fix their animals, not the breeders. If that were the case, no one could afford to purchase a puppy, and the animal shelters would be grossly over populated.

Great post CJTL! I think that the Newbies on this thread have done a great job of illustrating exactly what you were talking about.

Great Posting TSC! I think you've done a fine job of illusrating exactly what agree2disagree, Zann75, myself & many others have said about the clicks, groups, and stalkers on here.

Yes, you are. CJTL posted that some newbies come out with guns blazing and talking trash. That would be some newbies on this post, too. He also said that not all newbies are this way. That would also apply to the newbies on this post. So, yes, his post addresses two different types of newbie posters and both types are represented on this thread.
It can be hard to contribute to the discussions here if you are new. People will say, "Who are you anyway?" and maybe even accuse you of being someone else with a new ID. It is almost impossible to convince people that you are not incognito once it has been alleged.

I think that most people who use the internet have favorite places to meet and talk to people. For me, it's e mail, so I don't check this forum daily, or post much. I can see, though, how if I had buddies on here and posted a lot, I might call out a newbie with an attitude from time to time.

So, I guess I see both sides of the issue.

I know CJTL in real life. So I don't think you could consider us a "clique". Also, if you can't handle the cliques, groups, and stalkers (that'd be the 'snitches' who report you for breaking the rules) then you are welcome to stop posting at any time.
2 each: Yes i was refering to all newbies but I don't consider your 73 post to be a newbie. I have read some of your post and think you are a real considerate person who greatly contributes to the forum and the tpoics to which you reply.

I just get tired of the 4 and 5 post people coming on here and telling people that they are stupid or to get real and things of that nature.

This topic was not intended to bash all newcomers, just the ones who want to belittle others.

Granted we all get a little hot under the collar with each other from time to time but most of the time we have read post from that person before and understand where they are coming from.

It is just harded to have that understanding with somebody who has made 4 post.

As for real life I only know TSC in real life and it has been many years since we have seen each other.

So for someone to say we all know each other is a huge missconception.

Why Thank You Very Much, hippiegirl!
I'd say that I'm extremely happy to be here, but I'm not so sure after reading all of this thread. What a bunch of immature adults. I'm glad I was warned as to what to expect out of some people on here.
Like I said, I think if you went back and looked at some of the past posts of some of the people you are defending -- you would see that they are not all prim and proper and goody goody and in all honesty would not be someone I would want to be associated with on a forum or in real life...I also think that you would see how unfair your assumptions of us Oldies are...until we get thrown into child-like meet at the flag pole type arguements...

And yes, I will continue to defent myself and my "online friends" when they are being bashed for no reason.

Thanks CTJL for letting us know about these newbies with attitude -- keep up the good work...

And yes, I read that yellowgirl whatever's post -- those are the random postings that prove they are not someone that can have much of an intelligent conversation with anyway...

I know several of the people on this forum in other ways--not just this forum or the Shoals Forum...Bluesman, ImyaHuckleberry, monster, TSC, Kindred, Budsfarm, CrazyinBama, and several others that I talk to in other forms and even in person on a regular basis...that is why I said you would be surprised that the person you are bashing and throwing under the bus might just be someone you see and talk to every day...
Thats what I dont like. A person coming across this forum or looking for it, just to post a smart a** comment. This forum is for discussion.

You should have your own opinion, we all do. We do not agree with each other all of the time. Like me and GoFish. We disagree on religion/the Bible etc. However, I respect his opinion.

In fact, I like reading others opinions that are different than mine. I have even had my mind changed once or twice by talking to people on this forum.
