from spending bill. There but for the least of us... Of course I'm sure Pelosi's San Fran pork is still in there.

A roster of $88 billion worth of cuts was circulating, almost half of which would come from education grants to states, with an additional $13 billion in aid to local school districts for special education and the No Child Left Behind law on the chopping block as well. Some $870 million to fight the flu was among the first items to go, but other items divided the group.

Sleepy Shoals, you get an A for that statement. I can relate details about NCLB that would make all of us cringe. The money wasted is unbelieveable. For one example, publishers are getting wealthy over the trash being sold to help teachers with vocabulary. Earthmomma taught for 30 years. Give me a dictionary appropriate to the age level and I will teach vocabulary (included in my salary). The words will be useful ones that will help us all communicate. The overhead is ridiculous with new state, regional, and national positions being created. the requirements for progress in special ed are beyond comprehension (this from special ed teacher). I will just say the bell rang and post this. LOL
The "No Child Left Behind" program should be scrapped immediately before any more money is wasted on it.

At one time , my job was as a trainer for data communications so we could develop a staff for running the rather large and growing network we were developing. They sent me to school in Boston to learn how to teach.
The primary textbook we had was "Preparing Instructional Objectives " by Mager. Link

This book , and the course, changed forever my view of how teaching should be.
Afterwards, I noticed that most big companies actually use these methods to train employees.

I'm not going to go into the methods, as this post would go on into the night, but for anyone interested in actually teaching, especially high school, I highly recommend the book and methods.
What I recommend to replace the ridiculous "All Childs Left Behind" program we have now, is to teach our teachers this method.

Later on in my life, I taught high school math and found many of the principles of this method very effective.
