I have ate at many a good sandwich/sub shop including Jimmy John's, Jason's Deli (all be it more than just a sub shop) and of course Quizno's and Sweet Peppers here in the Shoals.   Many I haven't tried yet such as Jersey Mikes etc but of all the shops I have tried and that potentially might locate in an area like Florence/Shoals Firehouse Subs by far and above is the best.

On a trip to Huntsville, this week, we made a stop at the Firehouse Sub's in the Super Target shopping complex.  I always get the #9 "Hero" I think, and there really is nothing I can compare it to locally.  The Ham/Turkey/Roast Beef combination along with the way they steam the meat and bun is so far above Subway in taste that there really is no comparison other than to say they are sub/sandwich shops.

I so wish/hope that one day before long, on this forum or in the paper, that someone breaks the news that a Firehouse Subs will be coming to the area.  If so I highly encourage everyone to give them a try.

From the ones I have tried I have to rank Firehouse Subs (#9 Hero) as #1 followed by Jason's Deli (Beefeater or Sargent Peppers) then Jimmy John's (Ham & Cheese or Club).  Just my own opinion but I'm always looking for somewhere else to try so if there are any suggestions as to other sandwich shops I'm willing to give it a try.    As a side note, although not a sandwich or sub shop one of the best local Ham & Cheese sandwiches I have found was at New Orleans Transfer but everytime I go in there I either have the Seafood Gumbo or jambalaya (or both) and cannot find a place to put a sandwich also.

Check out the conjugation of your verbs.  You said, "I have ate..."  Don't you know that in the South, we get our grammar correct?  We say, "I have et...." or "I have done et...."

But you are right on about Firehouse Subs!  They are great.  I "discovered" them in Monroe, Louisiana about 3 years ago and ever since then I have been on the lookout for them.  I found one in a strip mall in the Knoxville area and you betcha I took advantage of that.

There is one in Decatur at 2812 Spring Ave. Southwest.
