According to the one office I called, this guy only does surgery and doesn't see people for regular dermatology. Can anyone recommend someone in the Huntsville area?

Salty, who did you call? There are some great dermatolgist around here. Dr. Hanson (who is by the way handsome, sorry bad pun) is the new guy at TN valley dermatology and my mom sees Dr. Welburn and Dr. Ann Bennett has a good reputation. You must have talked to someone at Dr. Webb's office but I can't imagine why they didn't recommend you to see one of the other doctors on staff. odd...

Salty, I've used Dr. Donald Thompson on College Street in Florence for over 20 years and I really like him. I've carried other family members there also. My favorite is in Memphis but most people don't drive that far for a dermatologist. I've seen Dr. Ann Bennett and Dr. Welburn over the years and each are good for certain things. Bennett and Welburn usually take way to long to get in to see if you are a new patient.
Dr. Thompson has retired. Yes, Dr. Hanson is great!! 
Hanson is still in business and likely will be for a long time, since he is relatively young. My wife and I both have used his services and we are both well pleased with him. His office is on Helton Drive not far from Cox Creek Parkway.
Salty, you know I can't recommend anyone without risking censure, but I can say to you or anyone, skin conditions are the most frequently misdiagnosed by non-dermatologists and there is dire a need for more of their specialty. If you have any kind of skin problem, etc., try to see a dermatologist if at all possible.

Gone to Dr. Welborn for a long time. He is a great guy. We used to live in the same neighborhood, and we both ran in the am.
Dr. Webb and Dr. Hanson, both at Tennessee Valley Dermatology are both great. Call them.
Just expect a two month wait if you call Tennessee Valley Dermatology. I called them because of two suspicious looking spots on my arm I wanted to get check for skin cancer. I was told it would be a two month wait. I could have died of melanoma by then.

Salty, if you're willing to make the trek, there's a wonderful dermatologist I see here in B'ham - Vera Soong at Princeton Medical. She's consistently rated as one of B'ham's best.
We have used Ann Bennett for many years. My mom goes to see her about twice a year. She is very kind and has many years of experience.
