Couldn't be better stated!!!!!

Have to agree. AEA and the teachers (some) have poked the pooch!

You do realize that No Child Left Behind (2001) was passed by a Republican-controlled Congress and signed by a Republican President? I don't think either of those qualify as liberal or progressive.

And I agree the program is not a good one.
I am a teacher...some 28 years now...we won't allow kids to fail....I learned most of my best lessons when I failed...an example..Last Thursday, I had a student in class who would not stay awake...nor would he do his work. I made him stand the entire class period....word got around, and I was told that I could not make the student stand that long...I had no alternate punishment that I could use...I will do a good job my remaining two years, but it will be difficult for me to stay...

Dude, you can't use facts like that to argue against Republicans. That goes against the whole, "If it don't work, blame it on the liberals" agenda. WTH are you thinking man? Take you meds and get back with the program. Wink
And you have these students that dont want to learn and our Governor wants to pass laws so they cant quit at 16.If they dont want to learn why try to make them. All this does is fill up the alternative schools & then we pay out more money.I dont know.Let them quit, get drivers licenses & maybe 50% will go to work instead of building up tickets and laying on their butts & going to jail at 18 for unpaid tickets. Its a cycle that needs to be fixed.Thats what I think.

That's exactly the problem. When I was in school in the 70's I would have been sent to the principals office and the stinging butt from the paddling would have kept me awake for a long time.
