Just for the record, I thought I would take this opportunity to clarify my stand on Marijuana . (with apologizes to Soggy Sweat)

"My friends,

"I had not intended to discuss this controversial subject at this particular time. However, I want you to know that I do not shun controversy. On the contrary, I will take a stand on any issue at any time, regardless of how fraught with controversy it might be. You have asked me how I feel about marijuana . All right, here is how I feel about marijuana .

"If when you say marijuana you mean the devil's brew, the poison scourge, the bloody monster, that defiles innocence, dethrones reason, destroys the home, creates misery and poverty, yea, literally takes the bread from the mouths of little children; if you mean the evil weed that topples the Christian man and woman from the pinnacle of righteous, gracious living into the bottomless pit of degradation, and despair, and shame and helplessness, and hopelessness, then certainly I am against it.

"But;

"If when you say marijuana you mean the oil of conversation, the philosophic weed , the pot that is consumed when good fellows get together, that puts a song in their hearts and laughter on their lips, and the warm glow of contentment in their eyes; if you mean Christmas cheer; if you mean the stimulating reefer that puts the spring in the old gentleman's step on a frosty, crispy morning; if you mean the weed which enables a man to magnify his joy, and his happiness, and to forget, if only for a little while, life's great tragedies, and heartaches, and sorrows; if you mean that joint , the sale of which could pour into our treasuries untold millions of dollars, which could be used to provide tender care for our little crippled children, our blind, our deaf, our dumb, our pitiful aged and infirm; to build highways and hospitals and schools, then certainly I am for it.

"This is my stand. I will not retreat from it. I will not compromise."

I'm in no position to confirm or deny whether these thiefs smoked some of the pot they stole, but it doesn't matter. Your assertion is that pot can lead some people to commit violent crime. I don't know what causes people to commit violent crime, but enough violent crime is committed that doesn't involve pot to lead me to believe that these particular thieves were driven/motivated by something other than pot, but just happened to rob a place that sold pot.

Where did I say that all marijuana users were violent?

My comment is on past postings in this forum insisting that there is no violence connected with marijuana use.

There must be SOME violence associated with pot...did you see the video of the Mexican mules carrying bales/bundles of marijuana on their backs and AK 47 rifles in their hands???

I can believe that drug abuse begets violence. The difference is I don't see marijuana as a drug...certainly not a dangerous one, anyway.

Tobacco use causes 1.4 million cancer deaths worldwide each year, yet cigarettes are still legal. Doesn't make sense when compared.

You are ten times more likely to get lung cancer from smoking marijuana than from smoking cigarettes. My recommendation would be don't smoke anything.

When something is made illegal and driven underground, the people who excel at selling it are generally going to be violent criminals, not business people. If we made any desirable good, jewelery for instance, illegal then we would see some level of violence associated with the inevitable illegal market it would create.
can we please just legalize it so i won't be so paranoid should i smoke it, i promise to be the nice passive, productive citizen i've always been. lol i sure don't hurt as bad as normal when i'm allegedly a little high. disclaimer: this post is purely hypothetical for entertainment purposes and in no way am i admitting to smokin the natural herb aka weed, pot, etc. etc. PEACE TO MY FELLOW POSTERS hey i'm like 1/200th native american so it's a family tradition right?

I don't know about joining a fan club or anything, but I don't have to agree with you to appreciate your contribution to TD Forums. Smiler

you see, i plan ahead so i already have like 15 bags in the pantry laying in front of my stash of ganja, help yourself... Cool
you know, the 2 posts i've made on this thread were purely having fun and playing around, but, on a serious note, i do fully support the legalization of marijuana, especially for medical use. if you do the research, you'll find that marijuana has huge potential for helping people afflected with serious medical conditions i.e. cancer, glaucoma, chronic pain, and the list goes on, if used responsibly, it truely is a wonderful God given plant.

I believe you would find that holding that much money cash in your pocket would be treated as illegal or unless you come up with a real good reason for having it...

Unfortunately, in some jurisdictions, you are correct.

I'm sorry...Did I happen to piss you off somewhere down the line? I don't remember doing that.... Are you an easily bruised Fundy that caries a grudge or something?

Ya know, it amazes me how all you southern folks pride yourselves in being polite and 'cultured'-and then become 'instant a55holes' without even the slightest provocation. You're no better than my people from NYC-You're just not as good at it as they are.

Therefore I don't wanna hear any more crap about us yankee barbarians. Mr. Pot-Meet Mr. Kettle. Big Grin
