I would love a noise ordinance in the county. I have houses on three sides of my house that has kids riding on 4 wheelers and small motorcycles. I mean they are 8 to 12 years old. They are riding them on their property, but the noise sure goes past the property line. Some of the motorcycles must have the mufflers off because they make such a loud noise & some the kids wear helmets so they can't hear them. On week days the noise starts about 3:30 & goes til dark. On the weekends it's all day long. So forget it if you want to sleep late after a week of work or if you work at nite and sleep in the day time. I have heard that these parents get mean about it if you ask them to hold it down. There is a vacant house on the block that a family rented & moved into for 2 weeks and left because of the noise. Off course if the county can't control the dog ordinance, I doubt they will do better on a noise ordinance.
Disorderly conduct includes making unreasonable noise.

Section 13A-11-7
Disorderly conduct.

(a) A person commits the crime of disorderly conduct if, with intent to cause public inconvenience, annoyance or alarm, or recklessly creating a risk thereof, he:

(2) Makes unreasonable noise;

So, you can file a report with your local Sheriff's Office, or go see the Court Clerk and swear out a complaint against the offenders.

Obviously you missed the part about "recklessly creating a risk thereof", which requires NO intent.

Here's a suggestion that may help those who have trouble with external noise when trying to sleep. A little trick I learned from a few years of sleeping in truck stops in my vehicle:
Pink noise.
It's amazing the sounds that a little box fan running where ya sleep will cancel out or minimize. I can't sleep in total silence anymore. Blaring TVs, stereos going by in cars, barking dogs, voices, etc. are pretty much drowned out by the soft droning of a running fan masking all the outside noises. Lulls me to sleep just as effectively as listening to rain on a metal roof. There's no sharp, coherent noise to concentrate on and prevent sleep with the fan running.
I spent years on the road in truck stops sleeping next to big rigs with engines, refrigeration units and APUs running all night long loud enough to rattle the windows-It got to where my brain just turned it into rain on the roof.

Just a thought...Worked for me.
