Non-Smoking Restaurants in the Shoals

Sorta fast food, but Capt. D's. I agree, who wants that nasty smoke?

As a smoker I have no problem waiting till I am outside. But some people are not that thoughtful. I would assume that some of the restaurants are afraid that it might hurt their business especially if alcohol is served.

I was at Logans yesterday eating when a threesome sat close to me. One of the young girls had a baby in a carrier on top of the bar, she was smoking kinda waving the smoke so it did not come my way. I was thinking, why are you worried about me when all the smoke was right in the baby's face? So negligent!

wi will have to agree to disagree, I dont do business at non smoking establishments. People complain about socialism, but applaud the most socialist policies. weird.

I also think that non-smoking restrurants are great, and I am a smoker. I look at it this way, just one less time I smoke. I really have no problem waiting till I am outside. The last time I was in Cracker Barrel, there was still a smoking section. It could have changed?

I've made a similar argument in the past, and was told that my logic was faulty. Actually, I think I was called an idiot.

On topic:

The smoking section at Ruby Tuesday is so well segregated, that I enjoy eating there.

I think CiCi's is non-smoking.

Last time I was there I considered CiCi's non-eating in addition to non-smoking.

Seriously though, all restaurants should be non-smoking. Not for some dubious second-hand smoke health concern, but for the simple fact that the sense of smell is so intimately connected with the sense of taste.

All of the restaurants in Decatur are non-smoking and it has not hurt their business. I guess the question is, "Did you come in here to eat or to smoke...?"

I think the resturants in smaller towns loose business from the coffee drinkers in the morning. Fat Cats, Lillie Bells, Prestons; I think have all gone non-smoking. There are those country guys who love to talk, drink coffee and smoke.

I wanted breakfast this morning so thought about the various places I might go to get what I was looking for. First up was Waffle House. I went in to the farthest booth from the smoking section but couldn't stand it so walked out smelling like I just had a cigarette. I ended up going to Bojangles and enjoyed a smokeless breakfast.

When I lived in Atlanta it was so pleasant to be able to visit Waffle House and know you wouldn't be covered over by smoke. Georgia, like Florida and Tennessee passed legislation on the state level to prohibit smoking in Restaurants or eateries that either allowed 18 year old's to work or be served. Many people thought restaurants like Waffle House where many smokers would go would lose business but overall most restaurants gained business as people started going more.

Alabama's Legislature has already been on the record declaring smoking, and I believe second hand smoke, dangerous yet they will not vote to ban smoking in Restaurants.

I'm glad certain restaurants decided to go non-smoking (Southern BBQ is another) but it really should be a State law to make it uniform throughout the State.

Socialism is a theory of government/economics. A private business choosing whether to allow a smoking section or not is not socialism in any shape, form, or fashion. Not only is it not socialism, that right of choice is a trademark of capitalism. There's nothing weird about it.

Even if non-smoking were mandated by government, that would still NOT be Socialism.
Seems the schools have not been teaching political theory for some time. It would appear most people don't know what Socialism is.

all restaurants in Huntsville are non-smoking and they're doing great, so i don't see why it would be any different here. whenever i smoked i preferred to go to a smoking restaurant if i could, but had no objection to it if my friends didnt want to, as others have said, just waited til afterwards to smoke.

My daughter lives in Huntsville. She has gotten so used to the non-smoking resturants that she says it now seems odd to come to the Shoals where you can still smoke in them. We all could get used to it I am sure. Bring it on.

I wish they would ban smoking in restaurants also but there are way too many conservatives around here to get anything that progressive done.

Some places only allow smoking in the bar and have excellent ventilation / smoke-busters. I can live with that, but would rather have non-smoking universal.

I prefer the non-smoking restaurants also. And, in case some are not aware of it, the new Sundance club in Tuscumbia is non smoking. Believe they are supposed to start serving lunch and dinner there, so some may enjoy that.

Sundance Club? Where at in Tuscumbia? What kind of food do they serve?

Sundance is located over in Tuscumbia behind Waffle House in the mostly empty shopping center which is on the corner of highway 72 east. Plenty of parking for sure.. I think Winn Dixie used to be in the same location as the club. It's very nice, but the band plays mostly country, in case it matters. Band has a female vocalist, Toni Borden, she is real good. Not exactly sure about all the food, but thought I heard they may start serving bbq. O--for the brave out there, a mechanical bull sits back in the corner!

Forgot to add, smokers can go and enjoy the club, just have to go outside to smoke

Cullman is smoke free. I have enjoyed the Cracker Barrel there. I don't go to Ricotoni's any more because it cannot separate the smokers from the normal people. it's just not large enough.

If it matters to you, smoking or non-smoking (which I prefer) I encourage each of you to go to the Alabama government website and email your local representatives as well as the Governor about your feelings and desires that the legislature vote in a non-smoking law similar to Georgia's, Florida's, or Tennessee's governing the restaurants.
