This couple didn't even kiss on the lips until after the "I dos."

I find his quote to be amazing. Hasn't he ever heard of road testing? Smiler

Very commendable if you ask me. Remember that this was a personal decision between the two of them and not something that they expect others to do, as in they don't teach it.

The Bible does not support "road testing". Adam didn't get a choice with Eve. Smiler Isaac's parents sent off for his wife and it was "marriage" at first sight. Eeker

Maybe more people should let the Lord pick their mates or it might just be best if we got back to true commitment, like for better or worse, in sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer - you know, take the vows and mean them.

On a side note I have had two friends get "mail order" brides. One from South America and one from Russia. Both friends are happily married after almost 10 years now. Interesting . . .

Wow, now that is interesting! I didn't know people still did that. Is there some sort of organization they went thru? I believe the basis for that could be good because I believe that love is an act of the will when you come right down to the bottom line. Each day you get up and choose to love your spouse or you choose not to. Every marriage will go thru rough spots and how it ends up depends on the choice you make - do I "love" them or do I hit the road.

I realize there are exceptions - abuse, etc. - and each case is dependant on the two people involved.

As for a church arranged marriage - those marriages in the Bible were arranged by God, not by man and that makes the difference. To have a God arranged marriage you have to be surrendered to Him totally, willing to seek Him diligently and wait on His answer - it always comes but the wait can be longer than when you go "hunting" yourself.

I read the book "I Kissed Dating Good-bye" and found it very interesting and a good case for not "road testing". Not for everyone but definitely a plan that would work for those commited to it.

The quip about "church arranged marriages" was sarcasm. There are, however, Churches in which dating is arranged and monitored. God has nothing to do with that simply based on the fact that a church organized such an effort.
