I have a statement and a question for you. You will never have to worry about a six figure salary cap of any amount. The question is who has the most money - Zeb or Donald Trump? Oh, another question, who eats in the best restaurants, Zeb or Donald Trump?

earthmomma..... your intelligence always amazes me.. Smiler
I think if they take taxpayer's money to bail them out, then they have not earned their high pay. I personally resent the idea of a company taking bailout funds and then paying their execs high bonuses, etc.

If the company has not taken any govt. bailout funds, then that company should be able to decide how to pay their executives.

I can't believe I am saying this, but I think Obama is right on this one. (Has Hell frozen over? LOL)

I agree if they have a failed company, they do not deserve a bonus. They should resign immediately and give the last bonus back to the company. I don't like the idea of caps, too much government interference. Don't forget the bonuses were voted on by the share holders.

Back when I had a job which paid bonuses , each year I had to submit to my boss the objectives I intended to , well accomplish, during the upcoming year. In my case , quarter by quarter. I would be paid bonus predicated on how I performed those.
If I didn't do my basic job, I would be -- turned loose.

My bet is that the CEO's also had to submit their objectives to the board.
Unfortunately, in the last 8 years or so, the objectives for CEO,s had to do with how much savings they could give the company, period.
Due to the short term mindset of the world today, many choose to do that by laying off workers, and in some case replacing them with contract labor from one of their buddies contracting firms., and changing from production to buying from cheap suppliers in Mexico , or China.
Well, that does produce huge savings in the short run, and they got those big bonuses , but it produced a weaker company as contractors have no loyality to the contracting company, and less American jobs .
This became a never ending cycle, and finally the chickens came home to roost.
Many of the CEO;s that started this are long gone with their billions, and the current bunch are no better, but caught in the situation.
If their company failed on their watch, they should be terminated immediately, and bonuses should not be paid, and hopefully before our tax money goes to any of them, but the greed and shortsightedness that caused the ultimate problem has been going on now for some time,
