It's funny how presidents are blamed for natural disasters in the Gulf region but not man-made disasters.

Do you think the media will dare ask any uncomfortable questions of the President regarding money he's taken from BP?

ARTICLE HERE

BP and its employees have given more than $3.5 million to federal candidates over the past 20 years, with the largest chunk of their money going to Obama, according to the Center for Responsive Politics.

During his time in the Senate and while running for president, Obama received a total of $77,051 from the oil giant and is the top recipient of BP PAC and individual money over the past 20 years, according to financial disclosure records.

Now, I have no desire to defend Bush or an ax to grind with Obama...I just like pointing out the hypocrisy of the media, republicans & democrats, and their assorted supporters.

No one is blaming Obama for the spill. We are simply pointing failures of the federal government especially as it relates to disasters. People blamed Bush for the slow response to Katrina and that wiped out several hundred miles of coast.

EIGHT days into it the federal government STARTED looking for a fire boom and there was only 1 available in the entire United States.

They were made responsible for always keeping one on hand years ago. When the fire was raging did they ever think that hey is a oil spill a scenario?

Like Katrina the Coast Guard came to the rescue. We need to expand the freaking coast guard and shrink the federal government.

You are correct that people with common sense weren't blaming Bush. The problem is that the majority of the media, which hated Bush for stealing two elections among other things, were spreading this nonsense among the various media outlets. You also had people, like Kanye West, come out on TV and say Bush hates black people.

Well I feel that Kayne hates black people, esp black women with the degrading music he often puts out.

I will say Katrina could have and should have been handled much better. But the hurricane itself was not his fault.
The sheer incompetence of all parties concerned is astounding. The BP Board of Directors should dismiss the CEO and all in direct line of authority who failed to ensure proper safeguards. At the next annual stockholders meeting, the Board of Directors should be replaced, unless any can prove they were out voted in ensuring proper safeguards.

The federal agency responsible for checking the safeguards should have their personnel reviewed and replaced. Finally, Obama must share blame for not beginning remediation remedies immediately.

No, they blamed him for the sorry job the federal government did with the recovery. Include me in that group. The federal effort on katrina was slow and ineffective. The federal effort on the oil spill was exactly the same, slow and ineffective. If the ones of us that work did something like that at work we wouldn't be employed long.
It was the state officials that delayed requesting federal help that caused most of the delay. That's why Jindal is now the governor.
And, don't forget Mayor Najin:

"ABC News producers probably didn't hear what they expected when they sent Dean Reynolds to the Houston Astrodome's parking lot to get reaction to President Bush's speech from black evacuees from New Orleans. Instead of denouncing Bush and blaming him for their plight, they praised Bush and blamed local officials. Reynolds asked Connie London: "Did you harbor any anger toward the President because of the slow federal response?" She rejected the premise: "No, none whatsoever, because I feel like our city and our state government should have been there before the federal government was called in.” She pointed out: “They had RTA buses, Greyhound buses, school buses, that was just sitting there going under water when they could have been evacuating people."

Not one of the six people interviewed on camera had a bad word for Bush -- despite Reynolds' best efforts. Reynolds goaded: "Was there anything that you found hard to believe that he said, that you thought, well, that's nice rhetoric, but, you know, the proof is in the pudding?" Brenda Marshall answered, "No, I didn't," prompting Reynolds to marvel to anchor Ted Koppel: "Very little skepticism here.'"
