Bama may have went golfing, but at least he got an escrow account set up from bp to aide those on the gulf coast who will be most affected by the spill. Wonder what repub Joe Barton of Texas, who amassed 1.4 million from oil interest and appoligized to bp for the escrow account, did for the day. Maybe he went to a tea party.
While we want remediation we want want a sense of urgency from the federal government in cleaning this up. I don't care who pays for it but it's not getting done. You can play the lobbyist game all you want but it will just get played back on you. Obama was the largest contributor of BP money. How is it his people were accepting BP's estimated of 5k barrels a day for weeks when now they are telling us it may be 100,000 per day. We don't want Jindals request to build sand burns tied up in weeks of bureaucratic red tape. We want one person in charge with the authority to suspend any law. We want a sense of urgency not a federal government stopping boats because they may not have enough life vests. We want help from foreigners which has been refused by this administration. We want a president who is focused on the task at hand and not how he can use a disaster advance his political agenda.

Obama and the others you refer to who accepted money from bp damanded they pay for there lack of inspections and saftey. Right winger Joe Barton of Texas continues to defend his 1.4 million dollar contribution from bp, by telling the people of the gulf coast, that they are on there own, bp owes them nothing.
Prime example of corparate america running this country by buying off politicians, not just repubs but demos alike.

Barton never implied or did anything to make you or anyone else think that he is of the opinion that BP owes nothing to the people along the gulf coast. He simply made a comment about being embarrassed about the trajectory of the hearings. The whole intent of the hearings was to parade and chastise the BP execs and had nothing to do with cleaning the mess up.
There will be plenty of time to point fingers and call names later but for now our congress and president should be doing their jobs and passing whatever is necessary to get all of the oil cleaned up as soon as possible and to prevent more oil from reaching the beaches, bays, and marshes. As for the slush fund escrow thing, BP was already making efficient work of getting people reimbursed for claims, now that the process is in government hands I am sure it will be slowed to a crawl.
Once again Obama and his cronies are quick to point a finger at someone else while ignoring the fact that they are guilty of the same thing or worse. On Memorial Day weekend Obama ignored the tradition of attending a memorial service to honor our veterans at Arlington Cemetary because it would interfere with his vacation to Chicago. The oil crisis wasn't important enough to him to stay in Washington to deal with it, he needed a few days vacation. Yet he was the first to blast Hayward for taking a few hours on Father's Day to spend with his son and it doesn't really matter if he was sailing or playing golf. Once again Obama has not used his head but instead chose to spew off at the mouth. Not the first time and regretably probably won't be the last. He is such an embarassment to our country.

How about some criticism of Reagan who missed 4 of the 8 memorial days during his admin, or GHW Bush who missed all 4 during his reign, or Bush 2 who missed (I believe) one. How bout some credit to Clinton who didn't miss a single one.
So far Obama is batting the same as Reagan. (if this is such an important issue to you)

Wasn't it the Obama administrations job to inspect the rig. Did not the Obama administration approve it?

YES and they gave them a safety award. Obama has played more golf in his short term than President Bush played in eight years.
While it is true that the President and his Administration was able to get certain committals out of BP what he did was unconstitutional. There is nothing in the Constitution that gives the President or Congress the right or ability to do anything of that nature without due process of law which wasn't done. We are still a country governed by laws and the Constitution and not polls or sticking your finger in the wind to see what is popular. It's scary, and dangerous, when most Americans do not even realize that.

What he should have done and could have done is used his executive powers to set aside a restrictive act (Jones act) that prohibited help from assisting in the leak just because they were not unionized. The President does have the power to cut through legislative red tape and regulations that slows down responses to the problem yet no one seems to understand that.

Just like Obama gets a pass for leisure activities during the crisis all the while condemning BP executives for doing the same thing, the press and liberal supporters crucified President Bush for his response to Katrina even though in comparison he did far more than Obama is doing. Also President Obama is given a pass for "acting on bad information" from BP , or that's what they say, and then Crucifying President Bush for doing exactly the same thing, with Katrina, when he acted upon information from leaders at the state and local levels during Katrina.

They both made mistakes during their respective catastrophes but are treated far different. Additionally once involved Bush performed far better than our current President is performing. Neither could do much directly but what they could do is what's in question.
Seeweed,

My point was that on Memorial Day Obama did not see our country as having a crisis and missed a great opportunity to show his support for those that are serving to take care of our country (even when he isn't). Yet when Hayward took a few hours (Obama took days) Obama took the opportunity to use it to try to make himself look better and blast someone else for not considering the oil spill a crisis.

And if you're wanting to dredge up history, what crisis was our nation in when the former presidents did not attend the service at Arlington? Haven't researched it but I'm confident you have so please enlighten us.

We see that from Obama all the time, he loves to take credit for things others have done right and loves to shift blame when he screws up. Personally I do not think he's setting much of an example for the rest of the country, I was always taught to accept blame when I screw up and if someone gives me credit for doing something right then let them but to never brag about it.

Actually I don't care if it's Obama, Bush, Reagan or whoever is president (democrat or republican) they are Commander in Chief, over the military, and should always be cognizant of holidays and dates that highlight our Military and those brave soldiers who are serving and who have served. Taking personal time out to BE THERE or present at certain celebrations or locations does mean a lot and says a lot. Likewise their absence says a lot also but in respect to their positions the President should not be judged on missing one or even two events but rather one should look at their overall actions with respect to the military and soldiers serving and that have served.

This was Obama's "3:00 a.m. phone call" and it was forwarded to a "Call Center" in India. The "baby" slept through it and now blames every one else.

To Obama's credit, he did get the cap on his head with the bill facing forward (and no pants on the ground).

Nice racism there.

As the author of that song was black, I consider this post rather racist!

implying that all black people wear baggy clothing and backwards caps isn't racist, because the statement references a song written by a black person. That is some VERY interesting logic. :P
