OK, I did not vote for the guy and I am learning to adjust, but, how much of an ego does this man have? I am sick of seeing his "Office of Pres Elect" banners and signs. There is no such thing and he is not in office until Jan 20. Period. How much money is he wasting on this ego trip????

Obama Invents 'Office of the President-Elect'

Barack Obama has created a stir by proclaiming that he heads “The Office of President-Elect” — an office that does not officially exist.

At his first news conference on Nov. 7, Obama stood at a podium bearing a sign that read: “Office of the President-Elect. Also, his Web site, Change.gov, bears the words “Office of the President-Elect” at the top of its home page.

Writer Larry Anderson referred to the “made-up little title” on the American Thinker Web site, and declared: “I nearly busted a gut ...

“Once again, [Obama] can’t wait to invest himself with the trappings of office.”

Conservative columnist Michelle Malkin wondered: “What other make-believe offices are they going to invent between now and Inauguration Day? I can’t ever recall in my lifetime any mention of such an office.”

Technically speaking, Obama may not even be the President-elect, according to the American Sentinel Web site.

“Megalomaniac Obama’s ego grows even more insufferable,” a weekend posting reads.

“Yes, he will be [president-elect]. But he’s not officially yet, until the Electoral College votes.

“The Constitution provides that on the Monday after the second Wednesday in December, electors convene in their respective state capitals. It’s then that they formally elect the President of the United States, based on the general election results.”

This whole thing sounds like a lot of ado about not so very much substance. While no Obama fan myself, it would seem reasonable to do something like that to assure people, especially in times like this, that Obama is really trying to get up on things that are going on so he can hit the ground running. So far, with the exception of his selection of Rahm Emmanuel and Hillary Clinton; and his emphasis on global warming, he really hasn't done much of anything I can really object to.
He needs to keep the hype going because once the rubber meets the road, his adoring fans will see the flat tires and the honeymoon will be over. Big Grin

I am just amazed at his ego. Maybe we have hope in the fact that he must know he knows nothing and is therefore surrounding himself with past pros of politics. Its not really change, just a rerun of the Clinton era.

Yes, we can; Yes, we did, but what now??? Wink

Build up the confidence of this country? In who? I have not lost confidence in my country. Some leaders? Yes. The economic system? Sure. But as far as our country goes, I have not lost confidence in it. It is the greatest place to live.

And Bush didn't take us down the drain. Obama is not going to "resurrect" us - no one person can. Its called checks and balances - meaning "spread the blame".
We'll have to see how The Chosen One does for ourselves...no speculation, no smoke and mirrors...just results for us to see.

I truly hope for the country's sake that he can do something. Meanwhile, it may just be four years of Obama leading the circle around the bowl.

Ask me again in four years. Maybe we'll have invented "Obama Derangement Syndrome" by that time. Of course, criticism of The Chosen One may just be viewed as treason by his acolytes...we'll see glassy-eyed zombie types shuffling toward us chanting, "O-Ba-Ma! O-Ba-Ma!"

I hope it is! It will be great if he can undo eight years of George Bush taking us down the drain.

I hope that the Clinton era is back. Prosparity is a good thing and I'm for it.
Sour grapes! If McCain was standing behind the OPE podium, you would be saying "that's great!" Any reason to pick on Obama. I am glad to see his eagerness to get the transition going. He is not getting any extra money for the expense of the "Office of President-Elect" just the usual amount any PE gets during transition. Gee, that sign on the podium may have cost a few bucks!

Not quite.McCain was the lesser of two evils for me.Any President we elect is gonna be more of the same until we clean house(democrats and republicans alike)in Washington. We need to quit electing politicians and return to electing statesmen.Neither McCain nor Obama nor Bush or AlGore,Kerry or Clinton have been statesmen. The only way to get rid of "politics as usual"is to quit electing the same types of politicians.

Well now, you have a good point. While I voted for Obama for the same reason you voted for McCain, I think you make a very good point. It does seem to me that however we shake it down the common man falls out the bottom.

Ross Perot might not have been any better, but I liked that guy. At least he had the guts to tell us how he saw it, and in many cases he was right.

Now the whole forum will attack me, but sometimes I think T. Boone Pickens might be interesting as president. He seems to be attempting to use his influence and fortunes to help us. Now I will run and duck for cover.

I would feel better if he simply stood in front of a plain podium when he spoke and even better if he waited until it was his turn. By Christmas, he'll have kicked Laura and George out to the Rose Garden.

Fox, you forgot Secretary of the Treasury! Isn't that the big one they've all been talking about? Who are you going to trust with the money?

I'll agree that it seems nice to know he's "gearing up" for his new job - I'd rather know he's prepping vs. just sitting and waiting.

Take that, Mr. President-Elect. Bow before me, peasants.

Now dog gone it Zippeee. You done copied my sign. I take a few well earned days of vacation and look what happens.

I'm afraid the Obamanites may be in for a bit of a let down:
