Working fine here.  http://www.amberalert.gov/index.htm

Either way, the website being down does not mean the system is down.  Fox and Drudge mislead you on that.  States run the Amber Alert system, and the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children also posts them on their site.  Who cares if one information site is down?

No one mislead anyone. The site was RESTORED a short while ago after public furor. It was down. Did you even bother to check before you went after Fox and drudge?

The federal Amber Alert website is expected to go back online Monday a day after it displayed a sp****, white screen with a message that it was a victim of the government shutdown.

"Due to the lapse in federal funding, this Office of Justice Programs (OJP) website is unavailable," the message read Sunday, just below a U.S. Department of Justice seal.

The website will be back online Monday, according to the Department of Justice.

Yes they did by implying that the website ran the entire system or was the single source of information. Several other stories point this out, yet both Fox and Drudge omit that and talk about an unrelated site.

Let me say it again.  States run their own individual system and handles all alerts in their areas.  The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children also posts them on their own site.  The only reason it's a issue is because both Fox and Drudge decided to use it as another snipe.

Now, just where did they mislead???

Due to the government shutdown, the official website of the Amber Alert program has been taken offline.

“Due to the lapse in federal funding, this Office of Justice Programs (OJP) website is unavailable,” reads a message posted on the website.

It remains unclear when the website was taken down.

The website normally displays urgent alerts from across the country about missing children.

Despite the website being down, the North Carolina Amber Alert website is still online as of 8 a.m. Monday. While the shutdown would not impact statewide efforts to locate a missing child, it could delay national coordination efforts.

The Amber Alert program is a voluntary partnership between law-enforcement and broadcasters that originated in 1996 and issues urgent bulletins following cases of child abductions. In 17 years, the Amber Alert program has helped recover over 600 missing children.

According to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, 48 percent of children involved in Amber Alerts were White, 33 percent were black and 14 percent were Hispanic. From 2005 to 2011, there was a 59 percent jump in Latino children involved in Amber Alert, according to the center.

Nice try. Fox 8 in Piedmont NC isn't even owned by Fox.    Here's the link on the real Fox News website.  They didn't even take the time to do a proper story on it, they made a stub to the Examiner.  Hasn't changed a bit since this morning.   At least drudge change it later, but still is clinging to the "public outcry made them put it back up" excuse.   How is this not a loaded article?

The Amber alert system, the national missing-child warning program, has been shut off due to the government shutdown, according to the Department of Justice.

“Due to the lapse in federal funding, this Office of Justice Programs website is unavailable,” it says on amberalert.gov.

Just 17 percent of the government is shut down, and Friday the Obama administration allowed union representatives to return to work.

So, union members could return to work, but the website to alert Americans to missing children had to be taken down?

How many more times must you post...and FAIL, before you begin to feel like a dumba**...?

I'm thinkin'...numerous....

.......the website to alert Americans to missing children had to be taken down?

I dont see any lies here either.  It doesnt say 'the website to alert Alabamians' or 'the website to alert New Yorkers' - it states the website to alert Americans implying that it was the national version of the amber alert program - which it was.......
