Over the weekend President Obama and his First Lady had a date night in NY. At the tax payer's expense, there were three jets full of white house staff to tag along.

WOW I congratulate the President for stimulating the economy of NY and for wasting more of America's tax dollars. Let us all go out and take out our PLASTIC credit cards and each have a date night. Run "them" credit cards up to the max and AS GM has done to millions of seniors who bought their bonds and then file bankruptcy on all your credit. This is the new AMERICAN dream right Mr. Obama, PLEASE lead by example....

Off the top of my head like most of our government tax figures. It may be a million less or a million more but does it really matter, we are in one of the worst economic crisis this country has ever seen and we are broke, begging the Chinese to loan us money and President Obama is spending like there is no limit on the US credit card.
Once again: Former President Bush took AF1 to Crawford 49 times in 5 years. He took his SS detail, his staff and members of his cabinet. Using your math ,and given the fact that Texas is further from Washington than New York, that means he spent $245,000,000.00 over 5 years. Think about that - $245 MILLION to go back and fourth to Texas for five years. That is a conservative estimate AND does not include the last three years of his Presidency.

I looked up other Presidential destinations:

And a LIBERAL believes Bush was justified? I do not agree with President Bush either if he was wasting Tax Payer Dollars and after eight years it was obvious He and the liberal democrats were up to no good.
Bush at Crawford would not need all the police.

"The sky is clear and blue here, same weather as in Washington. No traffic on West Street as NYPD had cleared the road. Some observers watched for Marine One from a pier about 100 yards north. I could see ten or more NYPD motor jocks, a bunch of cruisers and a rather large RV-style van, perhaps a mobile command center.

"We headed north on West Street in vans and passed Ground Zero. Southbound traffic on the Westside Highway seemed light, but probably slowed down as the rubber necking began. We turned right on Clarkson Street and headed cross town. Plenty of pedestrians and diners at the trattoria checking us out.

"POTUS waved to enthusiastic watchers as his vehicle headed toward the Blue Hill restaurant on Washington Place.

From an earlier report from Michaels as the presidential party took off from Washington: "Three presidential helicopters descended on Andrews Air Force Base about 3:42 p.m. A group of about 20 people, a few members of the military wearing camouflage and what must have been their families, watched from a distance of 50 to 75 yards.

"Exactly five minutes later, President Obama and Michelle Obama stepped down from Marine One. POTUS was business casual, but very sharp, in a dark blue suit and black shoes. His white shirt was unbuttoned at the top — no tie. Mrs. Obama wore a black ****tail dress and black heels. Her hair was up and she held a small blue purse, which I'm informed is called a clutch. They boarded a presidential Gulfstream 500 and we took off shortly before 4 p.m. en route to New York City, where the first couple is to have dinner and watch a play, 'Joe Turner's Come and Gone' at the Belasco Theater. The name of the production is courtesy of the New York Daily News.
"The first couple has left the Blue Hill restaurant in the West Village and headed north of the Belasco Theater, arriving at 7:55 p.m..

"NYPD had blocked 6th Avenue for our motorcade to move north from the restaurant toward Midtown. Pedestrians lined both sides of the street, taking photos and waving behind metal barricades, as if we were part of a parade.

"A bit earlier, your pooler asked Josh Earnest, deputy press secretary, how much this trip costs taxpayers. He said other reporters had asked and he 'didn't anticipate being able to provide a cost estimate tonight.'"

So you want the Presidents to be cloistered in the White House? I have no problem with the leader of the FREE WORLD living a life. Every time they walk out the door it costs a fortune. You are simply looking for something, anything you can find, to complain about. Ronald Reagan, traveled to his Ranch, Bush 1 to Kennebunkport. I no more expect the President of the United States to hang around the house than I would. Get a hobby - you do not have enough to worry about.
I wonder how much fuel was used by 3 planes vs one?

Also, Texas would be cheaper than NY.

Hey, he can take Michele wherever he wants, its just when he asks for everyone to 'cut back', a night in New York vs dinner at home seems hypocritical.

Since he's been on the road for months, its not like he's got cabin fever.

I agree. And golfing on Memorial Day. link

One of the things I liked about Bush was his giving up his golf game once he sent folks into war. I think--I'm going on memory here--that he said it just wasn't appropriate for him to play a frivolous game while he had troops in war. I appreciated that a lot, especially since my DH has been called up three times now--he's in the middle of his third trip with Enduring Freedom. (he's not in the units that recently got deployed from here)

Yes you are correct but we were not in a DEPRESSION at those times and WE THE US TAX PAYER DID NOT OWE 20 TRILLION DOLLARS EITHER!!!!
I despise hyprocracy in any shape, form, or fashion. Sure they need to get out of the house once in a while. When I get home from work and need to get out of the house, I go for a walk in the woods. It's all I can afford after paying taxes so that the hypocrites can spend millions of MY money for one night out. He knew what the job involved when he took it on. He needs to put on his big boy panties and suck it up like the rest of us have to do. My "nights on the town" consist of little league baseball games with my grandchildren.....and then I am lucky if I have enough cash left over after paying my bills and my taxes to be able to afford ballpark food.

As for those stupid shoes that Michelle wore when handing out food to charity, that was a slap in the face to the people she was helping. I would love to shove those shoes up her you know what. Am I jealous because I can't afford shoes like that? I don't think so. I pride myself on havng more sense than than to waste money like that. Hypocracy at it's finest!!

Forget the shoes its their money and if she chooses to spend $400 on tennis shoes and send their kids to private school that's their right. But when it comes to our money they have no rights. STAND UP AMERICA and be COUNTED before the TAX MAN gets you.
