Not if military officials succeed with preemptive damage control: U.S. officials are determined to keep this scandal from creating an Abu Ghraib-like backlash, says Alissa Rubin in The New York Times. With Abu Ghraib, suspicions of a coverup fueled the anger; this time, the Army apologized immediately, calling the images "repugnant." And military commanders and diplomats are hoping that the fact that these soldiers are already being "brought to justice" will "mute public anger."
"Photos stoke tension over Afghan civilian deaths"

The real difference is the liberal media's reaction: The "mainstream media and liberal blogosphere" could not contain their "shock and revulsion" when the Abu Ghraib scandal broke in 2003, says Howard Portnoy at Hot Air. But George W. Bush was president then. If the response to these images is muted, it will be because, with Barack Obama in the White House, the liberal media are pretending the Stryker kill team's "trophy photos" don't exist. "What a difference a president makes."
"Obama's Abu Ghraib: The stuff hits the fan"

I've seen the 4 pictures published by the German newspaper who claim to have 4,000 more. Bad timing especially with fighting season starting in Afghanistan. It may be ignored at home but it won't be in the Arab world. I would wager very few of you have seen these pictures as a result of who is in office. I have further examples.

Have you noticed most on the left don't have a problem with Obama selling the lie of the no fly zone in Libya? Let me see the plan is to piss off a terrorist who bombed civilian airliners and then walk away?

Gitmo is still open and no one cares. We are still holding people without trial. Obama even extended the patriot act. Where is code pink? I'm beginning to think all these leftist groups basically just tools of the DNC. Have you ever heard anyone from NOW speak out against the treatment of women in the Muslin world? Have you see woman's group or gay groups questioning why the liberal groups are budding up with the Muslim Brotherhood? I contend that the only thing that matters to these people is political ideology. The liberal agenda has replaced whatever they once believed in.

BIG difference Ronnie! Obama didn't "approve" the actions of these soldiers. But in the case of our pro-water-boarding former president, what they did at Abu Ghraib was just fine - until they got caught!

"On December 21, 2004, the American Civil Liberties Union released copies of FBI internal memos they had obtained under the Freedom of Information Act concerning alleged torture and abuse at Guantanamo Bay, in Afghanistan and in Iraq. One memo dated May 22, 2004 was from someone whose name was blanked out but was described in the memo as “On Scene Commander – Baghdad”.[97] He referred explicitly to an Executive Order that sanctioned the use of extraordinary interrogation tactics by U.S. military personnel. The methods explicitly mentioned as being sanctioned are sleep deprivation, hooding prisoners, playing loud music, removing all detainees' clothing, forcing them to stand in so-called “stress positions”, and the use of dogs. The author also claimed that the Pentagon had limited use of the techniques by requiring specific authorization from the chain of command. The author identifies “physical beatings, sexual humiliation or touching” as being outside the Executive Order. This was the first internal evidence since the Abu Ghraib prisoner abuse affair became public in April 2004 that forms of coercion of captives had been mandated by the President of the United States.[98]"

Wow. I'm truly stunned by that.

You are O No? I know you are gullible and awfully proud of your "award" (snicker, snicker) BUT your "good friend" IS a self proclaimed witch and THUG who supported Beelzebub (Dick Cheney) himself. A Thug doesn't consider drowning cats or pulling the wings off BIRDS torture!
A little simulated death by drowning?
Why that is "Bush" league torture to a THUG!

The on scene commander was busted one rank. She certainly didn't use the argument you cite.

Wow. I'm truly stunned by that. Watch this video (watch the whole thing) and tell me that again. I just discovered that there are many videos dealing with this subject. It IS torture!

Bush, like all pilots and special operations troops, was waterboarded as part of his escape and evasion training.
