Im trying to confirm this is true, so far it looks like it is on the up and up -
Russian President Vladimir Putin is featured on the cover of the latest issue of TIME magazine, but don’t expect to see it at your local newsstand.
The cover, which features Putin and the caption “America’s weak and waffling, Russia’s rich and resurgent,” will not be used on copies of the magazine which are being distributed in the U.S. Instead, the non-political U.S. cover has a picture of a football player and is captioned with the line, “It’s time to pay college athletes.”
Putin has been outspoken in his belief that a U.S. strike against Syria could have severe consequences in a region that is already on shaky ground. He wrote an Op-Ed for the New York Times last week entitled “A Plea for Caution From Russia.” In the piece, Putin warned that a Syria strike would “further destabilize the Middle East and North Africa.”
“Force has proved ineffective and pointless,” Putin wrote. “We must stop using the language of force and return to the path of civilized diplomatic and political settlement.” He added, “No matter how targeted the strikes or how sophisticated the weapons, civilian casualties are inevitable, including the elderly and children, whom the strikes are meant to protect.”
Although it is uncommon, TIME does change its covers from time to time. Readers in Asia, the South Pacific, Europe, the Middle East and Africa will all receive copies of the magazine featuring Putin on the cover, The Daily Caller reported. If U.S. readers want the foreign edition, they will probably have to go on eBay.
