why would the obama;s have been invited?

kate and the prince don't know them.. it's a wedding, their wedding... it should be friends and family - people the couple wants to be there....not just another state dinner. who's invited is there business, and shouldn't be a matter of public record, i don't care WHO they are. even brits are entitled to a little privacy

i wouldn't invite obama to my wedding.... not because i don't like him or because i want to publicly Dis him... but because i don't ******* KNOW him...i don't know Al Pacino, so i wouldn't invite him, either.

Funny, many past US presidents were invited to royal weddings, though few went.

They probably didn't invite Sarkozy because his wife could upstage the bride.

Most Presidents and Prime Ministers either don't get invited or don't go.

Actually they invited some really sleazy guests. I doubt the young couple had any thing to do with it.

British Royal Wedding invites at least 8 dictators

April 24, 2011 8:27 PM EDT

The British royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton has invited at least eight dictators, including some that have brutally cracked down on protestors during the 2011 Middle East / North Africa unrest.

The invitation that provoked the fiercest outcry was the one to The Crown Prince of Bahrain, whose regime has killed several protesters and injured hundreds in bloody crackdowns.

Other invited royals whose regimes were embroiled in suppressing protestors in 2011 include Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait and Morocco.

In total, invited royals to the wedding who are dictators – according to the categorization of the Economist Intelligence Unit’s Democracy Index – number at least eight.

Below is the list of the dictators:
The Crown Prince of Bahrain - Democracy Index rank 122 out of 167 countries

Sheikh Ahmad Hmoud Al-Sabah of Kuwait - Democracy Index rank 114 out of 167 countries

Princess Lalla Salma of Morocco - Democracy Index rank 116 out of 167 countries

Sayyid Haitham bin Tariq Al Said of Oman - Democracy Index rank 143 out of 167 countries

The Emir of The State of Qatar - Democracy Index rank 137 out of 167 countries

Prince Mohamed bin Nawaf bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia - - Democracy Index rank 160 out of 167 countries

The King of Swaziland - Democracy Index rank 141 out of 167 countries

The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi - Democracy Index rank 148 out of 167 countries

If the Obamas did go, then they would complain about how much it cost.

B, they may be dictators, but they are all "royalty". Princes, princesses, sheiks, kings. They didn't invite presidents or prime ministers. They didn't even invite Tony Blair.

Once again, why do you care? Why should anyone care? Should the French be insulted because their president wasn't invited? Should anyone be insulted if they weren't invited?

Admit it, this is just another lame excuse to bash Obama. And I DO mean lame!

Nah, if Bush can be blamed for everything that happened for 8 years, Obama is due.

Personally, I don't care. Too bad the young couple can't elope.
