Why do Republicans love corporate welfare so darn much?

When did Gov. Cuomo become a republican?

Cuomo is whining so he sounds good to his constituents.  What good would Amazon bring if they pay no taxes and offer less than viable employment? That's the point. Don't distract.

NEW YORK — Amazon will get nearly $3 billion in tax breaks and other incentives to open one of its new headquarters in Long Island City. The neighborhood will also get some benefits out of the deal, such as infrastructure investments and a new school — though some skeptics worry Amazon will further strain the area's already exploding population.

Officials are calling Amazon's project the biggest economic development initiative in city and state history, as it is expected to create at least 25,000 high-paying jobs and generate $27.5 billion in tax revenue for the city and state over 25 years.

I believe Cuomo has plenty to whine about. I know dems are really stoopid and republican leaders aren't real smart either, but at least republicans can operate a calculator and tell that $27.5 billion is bigger than $3 billion.

You mean like in Trump's tax break? That tax break that's causing more people to owe more taxes? Yes, Republicans can operate a calculator, it's the facts after they seem to have problems with figuring.

Nice diversion from the topic, but why not? I thought that dems were supposed to hate the rich "one percenters", but it seems that blue-states really need them to pay for the free stuff. In Cuomo's case, the top one percent pays for 46% of state income tax revenue and now with a cap on deductions of 10,000 dollars for state and local taxes and lowering the cap on mortgage deductions from $1million to $750,000, the steady stream of the wealthy from New York has turned into a flood.

I believe Cuomo finally has seen the light:

Cuomo, a Democrat, ridiculed members of his political party who are calling for higher state taxes on the rich, saying the top 1 percent of earners already account for about 46 percent of state income-tax revenue.

“Tax the rich, tax the rich, tax the rich -- and then the rich leave. And then what do you do?” he asked. “It would be the absolute worst thing to do right now. At the same time, you don’t have the ability to reduce taxes on the rich because that would just expand the shortfall.”

As for those poor rich folks, I'm not too upset about it. Most of those folks already own homes in warmer climes that also have lower taxes. With modern home offices and teleconferencing, they can live elsewhere for most of the year and book a good hotel room for meetings and other events when they absolutely need to be there in the flesh. They can sell their houses in the Hamptons to Arab sheiks and multi-billionaire Chinese industrialists and get a much larger palace in Florida and have money left over.

If the top 1% owns 53% of the money , then why aren't they paying 53% of the tax burden? If the top 20% own 89% of the money in the US , what % of the tax burden should they be responsible for?

Republicans have tried 'Trickle Down' for at least 50 years and we have the largest debt inequality since the Great Depression. Can you guess what happens next? The same thing that happens after every round of Republican economic policy, a depression/recession. History has proven the facts and Republicans have ignored them for decades.

With the end of the tax breaks for the wealthy living in high state tax states like NY, New Jersey, California and Connecticut, it means that no longer will the middle class in all states subsidize the wealthy.

The last three large tax reductions resulted in significantly more tax revenue.

Tax revenue changes, before and after tax cuts (corrected for inflation).

For the eight years after JFK/LBJ cuts – increase of $522.2 billion.

For the eight years after Reagan tax cuts – increase of $2.944 trillion.

For the eight years after Bush tax cuts – increase of $4.788 trillion

As to why the deficits increased?  Pat answer – who keeps your checkbook – your spouse, or your mommy? Actual answer, money is to politicians what crystal meth is to an addict – doesn’t matter if it’s a hooker or a Waffen-SS officer.

Tax revenue for 2018 has increased, not decreased from 2017.  Yet, some leftie that can't do math will insist that the tax cut caused the deficit to increase.

If, they have to spend time in NYC, for example, for a time, I'd sell the main home there and purchase a small, less expensive place.  As long as they stay out of the state 180 days a year, they wont have to pay the higher state and city taxes.  Demmies wanted to tax the wealthy. Now, they are taxed, the middle class no longer subsidizes them, and the Demmies squeal like the proverbial pig under a gate.

Republicans have taxed the middle class out of existence and then blame the Democrats. You can't make this stuff up.

Republicans hand out 'Trickle Down' money like water. When the economy turns to crap, they blame the Democrats. Wash. Rinse. Repeat.
