I JUST SAT AND READ ALL THE MEMORIALS TO OFFICER DAVID YOUNG FROM ALL OVER THE ENTIRE UNITED STATES. I MUST ADMIT, I HAVE NEVER BEEN MORE PROUD OF FLORENCE, ALABAMA, AND PROUD ALSO TO SAY THAT I AM A LIFELONG RESIDENT OF FLORENCE. I AM ALSO THE MOTHER OF A POLICE OFFICER AND I AM IN CONSTANT FEAR OF SOMETHING BAD HAPPENING TO HIM. BUT, THIS IS ALL HE HAS EVER WANTED TO DO , AND I STAND BY HIM ON IT. HE IS A GREAT OFFICER AND I COULDN'T BE PROUDER. I AM SO VERY SORRY FOR OFFICER YOUNG'S DEATH, AND I WANT HIS FAMILY TO KNOW THAT THEY ARE ALL IN MY HEARTS AND PRAYERS AND I AM KEEPING THEM IN MY PRAYERS NIGHTLY. MAY GOD BE WITH YOU AND OFFICER YOUNG, YOU WATCH OUT OVER ALL OF US, OK?

DLC, PROUD FLORENCE RESIDENT AND MOTHER OF A POLICE OFFICER.
FLORENCE, ALABAMA
No matter what we say there is no way to remove the grief the family is going through. Police officers are not rich and people can help through donations to the family. Words are good but for those able I am sure donations would be appreciated.
I am not a police oficer and do not know the family but am a concerned Florence citizen
David Young represents everything right about life and public service. So do the many, many fine men and women of the FPD. They are showing class and courage and will carry on with determination and strength. Let's pray for David's sweet wife and his kids and the rest of his family. The procession from church to cemetary was very moving and will never be forgotten in our city. It was nothing short of awesome really. While David's passing is sad indeed, his life is an inspiration to all of us to carry on and to do so rightly and with courage. Gob bless the Young family and the FPD.
