As I promised I kept quiet until certification of the Electoral College. Now I want to address the nay sayers of the Office of the President-Elect. So many were saying there wasn't such a position. If you check history, even President Regan used the position. The position is founded on the Presidential Transition Act of 1963 (link) and says the apparent winner is the "President-Elect." As such, Barrack Obama is correctly using the resources made available to him and used by previous Administrations.

Just how are we losers? Not a left winger on his cabinet, he's keeping Bush foreign policy and the tax cut. Code Pink is already seething and the Arabs are mad because he won't speak up against Israel.

What did we loose, stem cell research and possibly supreme court appointments.

Seems like we sort of won and got you guys to do the hard work.
For my Republican friends here is a link to the discussion on Hannity's website. It does say he is a bit pretentious in being more publicly displaying the information, but it is legal. It also references Reagan's letterhead.

The next link is a former Reagan Chief of Staff discussing comparisons of Obama's transition to Reagan's transition.

Next we'll reference About.com's numbers on Presidential Transitions:

Finally you can read a little about several transitions and costs in a GSA document:

The bottom line, Obama is a popular President-Elect who is legally the President-Elect since the selection become "apparent." It didn't have to wait for any certification. President Obama is preparing a tax cut that irritates the irrational Republicans but delights the true Conservatives (a title that I do not give exclusively to Republicans). By the way, it is irritating the irrational Democrats too.

I think a lot of people voted Republican just because of "religious" issues and didn't look at the facts. "He is for abortion and that will mean anybody voting for him will go to hell." That is nothing short of ridiculous. the abortion issue hasn't changed under even a combined Republican Congress and Presidency which has happened since Roe v Wade. Newsflash: It isn't going to change any time in the near future.

So if you think the Republican Party has exclusive rights to religion or is the only party with conservative ideas you might want to get your head out of the sand. It is awful dark in that hole and you can't really see what is going on. Bush has already proven a Republican can be fiscally liberal to the point someone recently claimed to me (on this forum) his low rating was because of that point. In my opinion his low rating is because he made some really bad decisions.

On January 20 we'll start judging President Obama. At that point he will be where the buck stops. Until then he is simply setting the stage like any other previous President-Elect except he has access to more media than ever thanks to our technological advancement. So, in short, "get over it."

Ala,
Show me were Regan always stood behind a podium that said "Office of the President Elect".
I have no problem with his transition team, I just find him arrogant and pushing a little too fast.
Besides, all he's got is Clinton's leftovers.
I think your side lost after all.

If he gets us back to a Clinton era economy then I'll be happy. That is change enough for me. We'll see what happens.

What about that "change". A cabinet full of Clintonites and Chicago political cronies.

Oh, well, if that's the best y'all can do.. Big Grin

If that is the best response you can give . . . Big Grin

It isn't even January 20 yet. He is simply setting the stage for his transition. I'll start judging him after January 20. Until then just keep licking your wounds.

Did he not appoint Panneta?

So do you expect him to appoint only one group of people? On one hand people are saying they are all Clintonites (see Sassy Kims' point of view) and on the other you are saying most of them are some other point of view. And then you say a single person who is part of a diversified team makes a difference.

Look, he is President-Elect. He will appoint a cabinet to implement his change with his leadership. You are already judging his change simply on the basis of people. Let's see what happens first.

Best "I" can do? Not hardly. Wait until after January 20th Big Grin

As for "licking my wounds", not hardly...just preparing for a little payback to the libs... Wink

And by the way..."Office of the Little Boy playing President Elect" sure sounds more accurate Wink

I wouldn't have ended up eternally darned if I worshiped him. Big Grin

And I better not catch you turning my crank...that's a felony in this state Wink

His tax cut will only amount to about an extra $19 or so per pay check for a family, ($1000 / 52), about enough for a tank of gas. Bush's came as an actually check for $600 and was much more useful, but I'll take anything I can get.
