This week, our group had a meeting in Florence , many attended and for what ever reason many that was invited did not show, a very good meeting , but ok thanks to Representative Tammy Irons and Representative Johnny Mack Morrow for attending and supporting. Ok now Reresentative Johnny Morrow gave some imformation that I would Love to pass on as he did to us. Ok starting very soon , all our Cell Phone Numbers will be made Public . so what this means as he explained, now when a Tela -Marketer gets our Numbers and when they start calling us,, we will be charged for our minutes when we answer . So OK I know your Madd as hector too. But Johnny Mack Morrow , gave us a Number to call so to have this Blocked for 5 years . So if you agree .. call this Number he gave us and Protect your minutes. 1-888-382-1222. None of our members has heard of this, some of you may have if so let us know.

I am listed on the Do Not Call registry for both the state and the fed. At some time, I think it was no longer necessary to register on the state, however, I listed both my home phone and my cell.
(sometimes when I'm expecting a call I will leave my home phone off-hook and it will forward to my cell)
Occasionally, I still get telemarketing calls.
EACH and EVERY telemarketing call I get, I turn in to the feds, under the "file a complaint " tab at Link
It seems that every so often, the telemarketers will test to see if they can get away with it. I always am nice, ask for the persons name, their company, and if possible can I speak to their supervisor.
I tell them that I am on the do not call registry, and that I will be turning them in for violation, thank them for their time and hang up.
Then I go and turn them in.
Calls will usually stop for about a year, then have to go through the same thing again.
This is only a problem if you answer the call. I have the name and number of any and everyone who could/should be calling me listed in my telephone address book/directory. If a call comes in that does not identify the caller as someone in my directory and by their name, I simply ignore the ring, frustrate the caller and don't get charged minutes. All of this without involving a government bureacracy.
I gave an earlier solution in another topic that would work. You can look it up. Here is another.

Ask the telemarketer if they are a prostitute. They will divert the conversation. Interrupt them. Tell them you heard Larry Flynt say that the only thing that will make America happy is sex and you need to know if they are a prostitute. If they say no then ask them why are they not a prostitute. (Now never ask them for sex. We don't want to do anything illegal here.) Keep interrupting. Tell them that prostitution is probably one of the best ways to make money in today's economic climate. Then tell them the way they talk they could probably make a good prostitute (It doesn't matter if they are male or female. In fact, it is even better if they are male.) Keep interrupting. Ask them if they have ever made a deal in an alley. Then ask them if they think prostitution should be legalized. If you keep up this tirade you will get your money's worth and you will lose them. Why not have a little fun in life?
