Could someone explain the steps that descend into the pond/lake/water at Spring Park? I believe that would be on the north side.
(Too bad every city doesn't have a Harvey Robbins!)

Years ago, they used a row boat to check out pond conditions. I saw the boat loaded and unloaded from the steps, but don't know if its the original reason. Full dunking baptists, perhaps?
FOR WHATEVER REASON THE STEPS ARE THAT FOR, THEY ADD TO PARK. AND I KNOW 2 GRANDSONS THAT MAKE USE OF THE STEPS TO WATER EVERYTIME WE GO THERE AND THAT KEEPS MAW HOWLING AT THEM LOL.... THE LIL ONE CHASES DUCKS INTO WATER
I was just there Saturday with my baby. That place was COVERED! She loved the train, but the merry go round made me sick. I used to be able to handle it.But not anymore

I saw an old, old picture in a historical book--like bicentennial magazine type thing--it had people down there dipping water out into jars.
The caption said something about " so and so and so and so are spotted enjoying the day and gathering drinking water"...or something to that effect.
Surely there was something else the steps were built for, thoough.
