Peyton Place, first a novel by Grace Metalius, then adapted as a "screen play", aka, movie, starring Dorothy Malone (?? maybe) and then into a television series. Beautiful music, Theme from Peyton Place.
I used to love The Ellen Show. She was so funny (no pun actually intended) on that show! I think pressing too hard with the lesbian storylines (once she came out) is unfortunately what probably ended the show....America just wasn't ready in the late '90's.
Anyway, the openings were the funniest. The first two are spoofs of the 1996 Olympics:
