Went there one night last week at the request of my 14 year old son. It was my second trip there so I knew not to be impresed with the menu, the first time, I had some kind of seafood dish with mussels and clams, It had way more pasta and not much seafood. This time I had the tilapia That I condersiderd quite bland, only having some kind of cheese with no hint of any spices. Anyway, the reason for this post, you know how hindsight is 20/20. We are told time after time how important it is to wash your hands, well that is somthing I do all the time regardless if I am cooking or eating or anything else. Well I was washing my hands and an employee entered the restroom on a cellphone went in the stall and left without washing his hands. My first thought was to turn him in, but I did not. Now I can't say it is relevant, but my son woke us up later at night with upset stomach vomiting and diarea the rest of the night, so much so he had to miss school the folowing day. He got better and went to school the next day. Olive Garden is way over-rated, It just don't have the bold flavor I like, and if you guessed I won't be back, your corect!

You need to call Olive Garden RIGHT NOW and report this. Hopefully you were able to get the employee's name, or at least a good description.

And, you need to call the Lauderdale County Health Department (764-7453) first thing Monday morning and report this.

I don't care for Olive Garden's food, but we all know this could happen at ANY restaurant. It will continue to happen if these instances go unreported and employees continue to "get away with it."

I agree and also if you can remember what the employee looked like describe him the best you can plus the time and night this happened maybe they can figure out who it was and watch him for a while.

Hopefully, they can watch him walk right out the door! You can call the inspector's office at the Health Dept., but your best bet is to call and speak to the GENERAL manager (don't just ask to speak to "the manager" if you call, as you'll only get the shift manager). Do have the time and date on hand, and be able to describe this person as best as possible and what he was wearing (because there are different uniforms for various positions). I hope you'll do us all a favor and do that. Thanks. Red Face

Oh - and when you speak to that general manager, you might want to mention that you posted about it here, and tell him or her how to find the "Food" section of the Forums, along with the "Restaurant Owners Response" thread, should he or she wish to comment on the corrections that have been made in regard to this matter. Wink
Just an update. I did call olive garden and spoke with Dave Weand, 718 3337, he seemed to be concerned and said he would address the issue.I gave as much info as I could to help pinpoint the culpret, maybe it will never happen again. Like I said, hindsight is 20/20, and I now feel like a fool for not personaly comfronting the lad about his screw up.
I still intend to call the heath dept. to follow up and see if it was addressed.
