I Guess Ya'll know that there are some Churches that when they take the Lords Supper if they ever do, they think that the whole Congregation has to drink the Wine from the same Container, well I know that there are some of them still around, I don't believe that way because it is not clean, and another thing what if somebody dropped the container and spilled the Wine, or worse yet broke the container that they was passing around, Lord that would be a mess, we use a tray with a lot of little Cups, it's a lot more sanitary and if you drop one then you can get another one.

I Used to work in a place and the CEO went to the Episcopal Church and they all drank from the same Container and one Morning he came in and said that the 3rd man down the line from him had died with Aids and he was kind of worried(he drank of several other Bottles at other times)

when I was a kid everybody had a well where they got their water , they had a bucket and Dipper and if yu wanted a Drink of water you just went over and dipped up some and Drank it, some People Dipped Snuff and others had a big Moustache but nobody paid any attention to that, the Life expectancy wasn't as long as it is now, i remember getting up on a Cold Morning and the water bucket being Frozen with the Dipper in it , and this was inside the house, Boy those were the good old Days. I will quit before I get whipped for getting off the Subject

yellow,

I think its called reminiscing and I truly enjoyed it.

I am from a different generation, but grew up on a farm. We all drank out of the same dipper when the water jug was brought out to the corn field. We never thought a thing about it. Now days we all think differently. Smiler

As for the AIDS guy. Well PA thankfully you can't catch it that way. There was a time they were not sure, but now we know you would be safe to drink after someone with AIDS.

What church shares the same wine cup though? I had never heard of that before.
Mine does. The alcohol in the wine kills some germs and I don't really care about the rest. People who are sick probably abstain or dip their wafer in the chalice. The chalice is wiped and rotated and I think it is lined with silver which should also kill bugs. Someone people are just stupid about germs. They should stay at home in a plastic bubble.
I was in a church retreat once where a lot of different churches were represented. We were taking the Lord's supper and when they passed the bread I went ahead and stuck it partially in my mouth to my tongue and just then saw that they were passing the cup to dip it in. I was panicked for about 2 seconds ...do I pass on the dipping part seeing how I had already touched it to my tongue( at this point I had pulled it back out of my mouth) causing a bit of a scene.? Instead... I flipped it around to the clean side and slightly dipped. LOL I think the Lord has a sense of humor. Smiler

Mine does too...
Everyone drinks of the same Chalice. Never been a problem or issue- I guess if people don't like the idea, they abstain.

123::: Why don't you hold the chaice up and pore it in your mouth

and it won't touch your lips???

When Jesus instituted the supper, He commanded "Drink ye all of it." If there is only one chalice or cup and someone takes that command literally, then there would be none left for the rest of the worshippers.

Yes, I know that "all" means "all of you." But I heard of a fellow once who did drink it all down and when asked why, his answer was that he was just doing it the way Jesus said to do it. They had to send someone to the church kitchen to re-fill the one cup.

Jank in the Early 1900's some of the CofC Churches used one container, I had a Friend that died and his Daughter gave me a Book that was a Debate between Curtiss Porter and a Waters, I can't recall his first name, it was 1931 and both were CofC Preachers and waters was a one Cupper and Porter wasn't and they both were well Educated and could put forth arguments that sometimes were very good, but you have to like a thing like that to enjoy it for sometimes it can get boring.
