Dear Congressman Griffith:

It's ironic, isn't it. After you were elected, you made a statement over at UNA that "Obama is in over his head". You said that he was a "one term President". Interesting, isn't it. I said at the time that you were the biggest Jack@$$ in Congress. Have you seen this video?

Thanks for fighting for my conservative values.
Christopher

Dear Mr. Griffith,
I would like to thank you for your service. You served and represented the true people of north Alabama. In the past two years I know of at least three occasions where you visited the Shoals and made yourself available to your constituents, something that your predecessor, to my knowledge, did not. I thank you for your voting record and attempt to stand up to Pelosi and Obama and the juggernaut healthcare bill that you, of all people, could understand. It is a shame that the people of Madison county and the city of Huntsville would not support someone who has acted in their best interest for the past term. Union reps and Democrat voters who crossed the lines to vote against you will now be faced with choosing representation, which for those of us in northwest Alabama, have not a care in the world. We will see no support from this electorate.
Though you originally ran on the Democratic ticket, I supported your run and was satisfied with your actions while in office. It takes a real man to realize that the party they "thought" they supported was actually full of crooks and deviants, and to then more courage to turn your back to them. We need more folks like you in office who are willing to stand strong in the face of what is wrong. Sadly, they appear to be rare.

Could not have said it better myself, ditto what you said.
Why? Because he was an incumbent or because he switched parties?
If it was because he was an incumbent I can buy that reasoning, since I would prefer not to see a single one in office be put back in, but to remove him from office because he switched parties due to the shenanigans of Washington just goes to show that you could run Adolph Hitler on the Democratic ticket and he could probably be put in office. Some people are too dumb to look at a candidate for what he has done for them, or in this case attempted to prevent having something done to them. They had much rather vote a straight party ticket and say cause "my grandaddy told me to do it".
This type of justification is why the government is in the shape it is in right now, and will likely never recover.
Strange, I think if a lot of folks where to have looked at what his voting record was and looked back to see that in his party change that none of his positions on the current issues changed that perhaps he would have been re-elected. Griffith did a good job for the area, I voted for him last time and he was one of the few democrats that I have ever voted for.
Actually if you look at the polls he carried Lauderdale AND Colbert counties. It was Huntsville and Madison county that did this. Unfortunately neither of the remaining candidates appear to be pro-NW Alabama, so we will be left out in the cold again. Congrats to all those out there who thought they would teach him a lesson.... Better rephrase that, a majority of the voters voted him out, lol, from what a lot of people were saying about what they wanted, they wanted him they were just to stupid to know that he was the "good guy". Anyway if Mo Brooks does as good a job for the area as Griffith has done I will be pleased.
Republicans have made a huge mistake by nominating Mo Brooks. While on the Madison County Commission, he kept things in total chaos most of the time. The GOP should have embraced Dr. Griffith considering his voting record was VERY REPUBLICAN the entire time he served in Conress (even while a DINO, Democrat-In-Name-Only).

The Democrats have nominated the better candidate this year. Steve Raby is a first class guy and very likeable. In a debate, he will mop the floor with Ole Mo. He comes across as "a common man" who just wants what is best for Alabama. Mo Brooks comes across as radical and a screamer. I've heard him speak. Actually, I've heard Steve and Mo speak at the same event, and the people around me were very impressed with Steve Raby and completely turned off by Mo Brooks.

I predict a Democrat win in District 5.
