From other column post, from other members, the general consensus, it seems, is that Popeyes Chicken is much better than KFC and most people seem to like it better. That said we have three KFC's in the Shoals area and they seem to keep fairly busy yet Popeyes can't seem to stay as busy as the KFC's.

Why? Guess I was just passing time tonight as I ate at Popeyes but I couldn't help but notice that they don't seem to have near the business that KFC has and yet they have better Chicken?

There have been a couple threads about this place in the past and reasons folks don't go there anymore. My main reason is they give you very small servings and nickel you for sauces. Only to have them give me the sauce after I offer to pay for it with my debit card. (Cause the transaction fees on the debit card would actually cause them to lose money on the transaction in most cases).

Popeye's has great tea. Their chicken has a "kick" with cayenne pepper in the seasoning, but I don't really care for it. It's okay - I'll eat it but it's not my fav. KFC is good but sooooo greasy. I like Zaxby's chicken fingers, breaded & seasoned just right to suit me.

The location of Popeyes is not the best, not so easy to get into their parking lot and out.

I really like their Chicken Gizards, a lot of them for the price and very good when first fryed, they sale a lot of the Gizard Boxes. so most of the time allways fresh fried.

I was at a function where the spices were purposely left off Bojangles chicken. I felt I was eating tastely plastic. Seriously, no flavor at all. Where is my grandmother who could sure wring a chicken's neck?

I've never gotten good service at the Florence Popeye's. Never. Worst service in town and they don't even apologize for your wait or for the fact they gave you someone else's food. All the employees stand around and jaw jack instead of filling the orders. Pretty pitiful. I haven't been back in about 8 years. In fact, I vowed never to return shortly before that man went in and pulled a gun on them for their crappy service.

Looking at the other thread, you will see that it's their service, the attitude of the employees and their "I don't give a crap about your food and if you get it" attitude. It wouldn't bother me if they closed it down. Or fired everyone over there including manager and started over. That might be the best answer.

I worked in Huntsville for 4 years, and ate at Popeyes (Parkway North loc.) weekly and it was always good. I tried the Florence location several times and never got good food or service. That leads me to believe the management is to blame! I wish they would put one in Muscle Shoals.

They have good chicken livers and give you enough to eat for 2 or 3 meals. Their potatoes and gravy and corn on the cob isn't bad.
But I eat there maybe 2 or 3 times a year. So,
not my favorite!
