Wow! What a FLIM-FLAM man! What a poseur! What a con artist! What a money-grubbing phony! What a false prophet!

Guess I will have to go over to the TBN channel and watch all his fellow hucksters lament his passing. [ADDED HERE 8:42 a.m., December 16 the unctuous utterances of the slimy Paul Crouch, at this link: " http://www.tbn.org/announcemen...-of-dr-oral-roberts] She of the pink hair will, I am sure, shed many tears. And Benny Hinn, now perhaps the new king of phony faith healers, will credit Oral as an inspiration to his own corrupt ministry!

These righteous frauds make me wanna barf! Such as they give a totally false impresson of what true Christianity is all about. No doubt but that they lead many souls to Satan!

MSNBC online provides the following:

"If God had not, in His sovereign will, raised up the ministry of Oral Roberts, the entire charismatic movement might not have occurred," said Jack Hayford, president of the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel, in a statement"

Hayford, also, is a slimy phony!

More on the lying weasel, Oral Roberts:

"It is obvious that Roberts is a deceiver and a false prophet. His prophecies have been proven wrong time and time again. Sadly, he has deceived multitudes with his lying words and false promises, and has robbed God's people of hundreds of millions of dollars. And in spite of all the evidence which proves Roberts' hypocrisy, he is still regarded as a great Christian leader in charismatic circles and is still promoted as a man of God."

And as to his family--well, his son Richard resigned from the presidency of Oral Roberts University under pressure after disclosure of his and his wife's luxury-living excesses, including their using the university's airplane to ferry their high school graduate daughter and her classmates to the Bahamas for a graduation trip. More at:

http://www.apostasyalert.org/Oral%20Roberts.htm

"So far, 1987 has been a checkered and chastening year for the Rev. Oral Roberts, 69. Last January the Tulsa-based TV evangelist announced that if he did not receive $8 million from donors by March 31, God would "call me home." The money was raised, but Roberts' dramatic ultimatum provoked widespread derision. He drew additional gibes by declaring that his wife Evelyn had come to his rescue when the devil visited his bedroom and tried to strangle him. Then, in May, Roberts mailed 1 million packets of "healing" water to followers, advising them to use it to "anoint your billfold" to solve money problems and "anoint your body" to allay physical ills."

Roberts is no better than Bernie Madoff, maybe even worse. Madoff did not make pretensions of holiness.

I agree. If he's in Heaven, then I'll be going there too, & I'm not a bad person.

If this is the kind of people who go to heaven then I don't know if I want to go?

The word you apparently were seeking is "disrespectful," not "disrespected." Back to third grade English for you!
I definitely do not respect the distortions that Roy Moore places on our American government's role vis a vis religion. I find his theocratic biases inappropriate and UN-patriotic. It is not disrespectful to call out the little scheming weasel for what he is.

Notbeternme, don't throw stones if you live in a glass house. This is the Oral Roberts thread. The Roy Moore one that you started is over in politics. Glad I could help get you back on track. Big Grin

Roy Moore? How did he get in a discussion about Oral Roberts?

Because BTU, in their quest for adoration in their use of language arts , messed up. Put down the dictionary and just say something, without the phony elitist attitude.

Why jump on the old guy. He's died. What he did wasn't at the end of a gun. He didn't make anyone do anything. It's called free will. He will answer for his deeds, just like the rest of us.
My sincerest apologies for the mis-posting, but what I have said about Moore still goes. Same as to Roberts.

As to any use of the dictionary, Tenn, Let me assure you that I very seldom have recourse to that aid. You, like all too many vocabulary-compromised people on these forums, cavalierly assume that anyone whose vocabulary exceeds your meager one must stay glued to a dictionary to dredge up new words with which to attempt to impress others. The problem is one of your limitations, not of my capabilities.
Wow, We got rid of Ted Kennedy and Oral Robert in one year? Hooray! Good riddance of two major league scum bags. But it is only a start. Now if nature can eradicate, Jim Bakker, Joel Osteen, Jimmy Swaggart, that really crazy lady, Joyce somebody, and all the other fundamentalists of ALL religions, the world might have a chance.

I totally disagree with you.

Then you haven't studied Dr. Skinner's work, and that is ok. He makes it empirically clear that we as a species do not in fact have free will. I'm not looking for a fight, give it read, you might gain a perspective. I respect you.

You are a much nicer person than me. I was going to tell BTU, to bite me.

As for no such thing as free will. What do you do, listen to the voices in your head, and follow the instructions?

I'm not a religious scholar but where in the Bible does it say you get into heaven based on the life you live? I hope that's not the criteria for getting in. If so, we're all in big trouble.

So you think people that kill, wife abuser's, child molester's, etc. are getting in heaven? Confused
I do believe that 90% of the people in church are going to hell. Won't they be in for a shock!! Wink

You shouldn't have capitalized the "L" in let. Wink Big Grin The comma after "Tenn" indicates you were continuing a previously began sentence, not starting a new one.
