Wouldn't it be nice if posters were only allowed to post topics that they thought of and wrote by themselves?

All this cutting and pasting of someone elses ideas grows wearisome quickly. Have you noticed that those who have a propensity for these type of posts usually cannot offer intellgient rebutable comments to their own subjects?

Just a thought of course, would not want to exclude the non thinkers among us.
Just an old codger irritating other old codgers.

I understand your point, and it is duly noted. Usually when I quote someone or an article there are three possible reasons.

1. Making reference to show credibilty or evidence.

2. To save time. If someone's already said it, and I've read it, then it becomes a time saver for me. I'm on the clock and time is money. My money.

3. Just too lazy or tired to key it in. ;^)

I know a lot of people cut and paste articles or opinions from elsewhere, as you say. But I also know who the most egregious "offenders" are, so I have this really cool original idea of my own - if the topic line doesn't sound like something I want to either read or discuss... I don't click on it!

Now, I know that sounds like a lot of hard work, but once one gets used to it, it's really pretty easy to do. Big Grin
