The anti-gun politimedia wasted no time at all demonizing the most common rifle in the United States as being the real villain of the Islamic terrorist attack on Pulse nightclub in Orlando.

Newsweek screamed, “ORLANDO SHOOTING PUTS SPOTLIGHT ON AR-15 RIFLE.”

Judd Legume of Think Progress squeaked, “The NRA’s Love Affair With The AR-15, Weapon Of Choice For Mass Murderers, In 22 Tweets.”

Always wrong Christopher Ingraham of the Washington Post whined, “The gun used in the Orlando shooting is becoming mass shooters’ weapon of choice.”

Here’s the thing.

The rifle used by the Islamist terrorist in Orlando was not an AR-15.

The rifle used by the Islamist terrorist in Orlando was instead a Sig Sauer MCX carbine, a modular, multi-caliber (able to swap to different calibers, including 5.56 NATO, 300 BLK, and 7.62×39) rifle system that sometimes utilizes STANAG magazines common to more than 60 different firearms, but otherwise has no major parts that interface with AR-15s in any way, shape or form.

This of course, will make no difference at all to the anti-gun politimedia, who don’t particularly care about factual accuracy and who likely wouldn’t be able to tell an AR-15 from a toaster oven if their lives depended on it.

All the media cares about is that they’ve wrapped their anti-gun dreams on demonizing the most popular rifle sold in the United States, and they’re going to keep attacking it, whether or not it was used in any particular incident or not.

Update: Now we have much more information on what really made this attack so deadly.

And the Norwegian killer Anders Behring Breivik used a Ruger Mini-14 Ranch Rifle "AR-15" to kill almost 70 people in Norway plus a few with an improvised explosive device. I might add that in many places that forbid AR-15 "AR-15's", the Ruger is not frowned upon by the government regulators because it doesn't come with a muzzle break, a pistol grip, and a bayonet lug and ships with a small 5 round magazine. I believe that they even ship guns to England and other countries without the gas system, so they use them as straight-pull bolt actions. That said this is the killer, and somewhere under all the junk is a carbine:

Norway shooting: July 24 as it happened - Telegraph

Oh, on a news channel a witness and victim said that the gun jammed and the shooter actually asked if there were any knowledgeable Black people in the crowd (What the Hell?) to help him. I guess he figured it out, but he could have saved a few bucks and got a cheaper AR "AR-15" and got better performance.

It is unfair to play Monday morning quarterback and second guess anyone in the horrible situation that went down in Orlando on Sunday.  There have been those who have wondered what would have been the outcome had the club had armed security present or if some of the patrons had concealed weapons and were able to return fire.  It may have changed nothing or it may have stopped the killing before so many were shot, killed and/or wounded.  Still you can also wonder what would have been the result had several of those in the club, nearest to the shooter, banned together, at once, in unison, and rushed the shooter piling onto him and jumping him together?

Could they have overcome the shooter to the point they would be able to subdue him until help arrived?  Sadly we will never know but surely there was plenty of opportunity to do so had enough thought to attempt that for they most likely were going to die anyway and would it have been better to have died while attempting to subdue the shooter than running away?   Even with a fast firing semi automatic he could not have covered all sides if enough people in unison rushed at him.  Those things are not in the minds of those being shot at during that time for sure so again second guessing is not fair nor valid.  Those type decisions have to be made on the spur of the moment and thought out in advance.
