PBA, you are by far the most ignorant horse's *** on this forum. I told you some of the things I believe in. I also said that the republicans in office have drifted away from these issues. Then you go and give your remarks about how you think I would answer the question.
I think this government has abandoned its fiscal responsibility, some of this has been due to the war. However, there has still been mismanagement of many areas of the budget.
I am a firm believer in free trade and believe this country is always evolving when it comes to jobs through our technology. The country has more mental capital than any other country which means we have a comparative advantage over countries in some areas while they might have advantages over us in some such as low skill jobs. This is because we are way ahead of countries like China in our educated workforce. Our unemployment rate is extremely low right now.
As for family values, I could care less about gay issues. I don't like the idea of gay marriage as does most of the country but I think they should be able to live together if they want in a type of civil union. The most important part of family values for me is raising your family the correct way. Teaching them responsibility and educating them so they will not be a burden on society. THis is the main problem. Too many 18 year olds having kids, only one parent around. Ignorance and poverty breeds ignorance and poverty.
On our national defense is strong but by no means overrated. Did you know the Carter spent more on defense then Bush relative to our nation's GDP.
PBA, what does the preached and Foley have to do with my values? Are you suggesting there are no bad apples on the other side (Bill Clinton), or are you suggesting that the conservatives should be held to a higher standard and that no one cares about the ethics of liberals?
Fighting Illiniexcellent points, I would like to add, your analysis of the Bush Fiscal Responsibility is WAY TO GENTLE. Record Deficits, accompanied by massive tax cuts for the wealthiest five or ten percent of taxpayers is beyone irresponsible, it is tantamount to criminal.
Liberals also believe in fair trade in international markets, BUT THE OPERATIVE IS FAIR, NOT FREE. A cornerstone of the domestic economy is the Anti Trust Legislation dating back To Woodrow Wilson. The same principals should be applied in international trade.
The family values issue is a wedge. Human Nature, being what it is will invariably produce the problems you outline, and the solution is to deal with the problems as they arise. Preventing them by outlowing them has NEVER been effective. Enforcing morality is up to individuals. Family values require that parents take responsibility for the behavior of their children, and that includes training the youngster to behave like an adult when that time comes. Poverty is the result of ignorance, the solution to poverty is to eliminate ignorance. This means that society has a very large stake in public education. WITHOUT IT, IGNORANCE IS THE NORM.
Not only did Carter Do exactly as described, but part of his economic troubles were a direct result of OVERSPENDING.
A government that is seducing the population into supporting the Aristocracy is NOT A GOVERNMENT BY THE PEOPLE OF THE PEOPLE AND FOR THE PEOPLE. The Bush Government is a government BY THE WEALTHY, FOR THE WEALTh and government of the people. It is by nature oppressive to the common people.
