Hi Fish,

I have always known you and I have areas of agreement; we just had to find them. And, one of my biggest peeves is the Prosperity Theology TeleEvangelists.

They do two evils: First, they project a bad image of Christ and Christianity to the world. And, just as bad, they con sincere, but foolish, Christians out of millions of dollars. Money that could be put to much better use.

When folks want to put their money to work -- there are many homeless, many children living in poverty, many families in poverty, many elderly who need help. There are so many missionaries and itinerant pastors in third world countries who need support, need Christian teaching material, need Bibles, need so much.

So, when I see all this money going to buy mansions, planes, fancy cars for the Prosperity Preachers -- I get angry. When I see Prosperity Preachers such as Fred Price in California say on television, "If you don't have enough faith to drive a Rolls Royce; don't get mad at me for driving mine" -- I get mad. His Rolls Royce was bought by the church, using money given by the people.

When I see magnificent Taj Mahal type facilities such as the TBN facility in Costa Mesa, California, being built using money sent in my sincere, but foolish, believers -- I get upset.

A friend used to work at the Postal Service Distribution Center which serves Costa Mesa. He told us about the truck loads of mail bags being delivered each day to TBN -- and you know that most of those envelopes contain money -- money that could be used to help folks -- but, instead is spent to support the lavish facilities and lifestyle of TBN.

When I see TeleEvangelist such as Osteen making folks buy tickets to get into his events to hear the Gospel preached -- I really get ticked off. Jesus has already paid for the Gospel, He has paid in full, on the cross, for each of us -- yet, these guys want to charge you to hear THEM preach about Jesus. How sad.

Yes, Fish, you and I are in agreement. And, I would not want to be in the shoes of these guys when they have to stand before the Lord and give account for their actions of robbing the poor to support themselves -- Robin Hood in reverse.

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill
I agree, Bill, sincere Christian people give because they trust too much. The Christian who gives to these 'ministries' will not be held accountable to God for giving to them...because they gave from their heart believing their money was being used to further God's kingdom. The ones who will be held accountable are those who have done the deceiving...using the money for themselves rather than for spreading the gospel and helping other people.
I like to help missionaries who I know are doing God's work...also I have been sponsoring a child and his family in another third world country for years. I receive letters from them thanking me..so I know the money is getting there. I think God expects us to be wise with our finances and our giving. You have to discern the spirit of a ministry...to see if it matches up with God's Word. Christians should hold each other accountable.
